Albion numbers

The Albion Sockeye numbers seem very low.

Take a look at the FN Sockeye catches over the weekend: http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fraserriver/firstnations/HTMLs/SockeyeKeptCatch.html

5600 Sockeye caught over the weekend.
Albion shows only 6 Sockeye caught in the last few days.

Does anyone have a link for the Johnstone Strait test fishery?
Someone said the numbers look good but I haven't been able to find a link.

They are likely using the larger mesh sizes on their nets so most sockeye can escape through them.....

  Do not trust these numbers as there are so many nets  :o that it is hard to get an accurate count

I believe the Albion boat uses 8" mess with a 3" hang which is ideal for most Chinook.  It takes a pretty big sockeye to get gilled in that.

Why would there need to be? From what I understand they boat operators are not government employees.

go to the pacific  salmon commission for all the test fishing,http://www.psc.org/Index.htm. sockeye are showing decent numbers in johnstone str. those should be down here in about a week.  should open first week in aug.
some decent spring numbers in albion test yesterday.

Bruce's Market has the contract to buy all their fish, however the gill netters I believe are independents.

Actually if you look at last year compared to this year, things are not looking that great, although it has picked up a bit the past couple of days.

Finally figured out why the Albion numbers seem off - they run different nets on alternate days.
One is designed to catch Chinook (8" mesh), the other is for mixed salmon ('multi-panel' net).

Here are the Sockeye numbers for the last week or so:

Aug 4 – 47 Sockeye (probably the multi-panel net)
Aug 5 – 0 Sockeye (probably the 8” mesh net)
Aug 6 – 11 Sockeye (MP net)
Aug 7 – 5 Sockeye (8” net)
Aug 8 – 34 Sockeye (MP net)
Aug 9 – 19 Sockeye (8” net)
Aug 10 – 23 Sockeye (MP net)

  Here ya go.....You have to sign up and the info is your. Sock numbers are up again over the last few days and my god there is alot of pinks on their way!
