wow... nice shot rod!  How does one go about photographing lightning?  i have heard that you actually have to take the picture before the strike occurs??

Option A)

1) Tripod
2) High F-Number (due to 2 and not wanting to have other lights kill the shot)
3) Long exposure
4) Luck

Option B)

Shoot when you see the first flash.. there's usually another one at the same time/slightly offset in time/space.

haha... with option B would you use the auto setting or night scene???

If your camera only has "fixed settings" try "sports" or maybe landscape.

For that first photo I took, I actually used a fast shutter speed and just clicked as soon as I spotted a lightning.

I was quite bummed to miss the opportunity to take some photos of last Saturday night's event. These are the best ones I've seen on the net so far, not sure if everyone can see this link:

i have a sony DSLR A200... just dont know how to use it properly yet!  i know i can change a whole bunch of things but it does have pre sets as well!  i think it has like A, S, M, P as options as well or something along those lines....
