Capilano River, May 29th 2009
« on: May 29, 2009, 12:14:26 PM »

Took a quick walk about this morning about 8:00 AM.  Two jacks in the hatchery.   Saw a larger dark fish (Steelhead?) plus a presumed jack in the Cable Pool.    Five fellows fishing in the Dog Leg pool.  No fish in evidence.

Who will take all that risk of being mauled by a bear for the next to zero chance of catching a fish in the much depleted Cap?  ;D

i have already seen many bears around, usually right infront of you in the trails. they get quite startled which is not a good thing! on a second note, have also seen sets of cougar tracks around

How is the bear getting startled (assuming they run off) NOT a good thing?
A bear that stands there and does nothing but stare at you is much more dangerous since it is no longer scared of humans.
I would be a little more freaked out about the cougar though....

Well, probably because a startled bear does 1 of two things, either it runs away OR makes a stand to defend itself. I think what Cody means is, it's better to make lots of noise when there are bears around.
