Fished the Stave today for about 3 hours.  Worked the east side below the dam and just up from the toilet bowel..  Used # 8 mickey fins and hooked into 6 small cutthroats.   Moved over to the west side for 1 hour water to deep to move around much and did not see any fish around.

Way to make a guy envious.  I drive by the river, on the highway bridge, but have never had the opportunity to fish there.  I like the look of the eastern side for some reason.

Try fishing it in the fall.  Huge return of chum with some coho and spring.  A big chum on a #8 fly rod is one heXX of a fight.

Is the Stave a year round fishery? Do I have to wait till July 1st?

It is open all year.  Of course always check the latest regs for any changes.
