What conditions do you need to produce halibut? Aside from the obvious Halibut. Sandy bottom, depths ranging from 300 ft. to 100 ft?  What does a halibut bank consist of?

Halibut are complex creatures.

The conditions that they need to thrive existed on the Inside generations ago but now they are for all intents and purposes extirpated-there exists a remnant population that migrates into Howe Sound in winter thus the few fish that are caught by anglers from time to time fishing for winter Springs right on the bottom.

The place off Gibsons known as Halibut Bank still resonates in people's imaginations but once every fish on that bank was killed-and I mean every Rockfish every Ling every Flounder-it was closed to fishing as per SOP in The Best Place On Earth.
