2 Way Radio

I'm wondering if anyone one else out there uses 2-Way Radios while they fish to keep in contact with their fishing partner. I got a pair for christmas and have found them extremely useful while wandering the rivers and I look forward to using them on the lakes this spring.

I was thinking it would be cool to have a channel that everyone on this board (or others) use to listen in and keep up to date on fishing info while on the river (or lake).  I propose using channel 3-10. So if you have a radio at home, charge up the batteries and throw it in the vest so when you head out its ready to go. If you always have it on your more likely to intercept someones message.

My son and I use them when we're out on lakes,we'll use 3-10 from here on.

Love them radios when up at the lake.

Ill bring mine out if there are any guys using them. lol, what channel?
I love my hand radios, they can keep you very entertained on road trips. lol

I remembered years ago at the Chehalis, I caught a nice steelie down at Purdy's run. I called my cousin who was fishing the hatchery hole that day to come over. The first cast he made when he got to the run, he hooked the other fish. We both walked out with a fish each that day.

It was a nice device to carry but the range was not very good. Maybe the new ones are better now.

The range still isn't great unless you spend a bunch but 2-5Km is all you really need.

The channel I suggest is 3 with subchannel 10.  I'll have mine on for the derby tomorrow.

I've been using a pair of Midland 18-mile radios for a couple years now.  From time to time, I've been able to reach someone at McDonalds in Chilliwack from Yarrow.  Usually, the reception is pretty good from KWB to the Vedder X-ing bridge.  Last I checked, you can pick up a pair of these in the States for around $50.  I'm probably going to pick up a pair of the newer 26-mile ones soon.  I like to keep one on my boat so people can get me from camp when I'm out of cell range.
