I consistantly use a 16 ft leader. But I am a little weary about using it. I make sure my directly behing me. Last sunday my dad embedded a hook right to the eye in his cheek. And he only uses an 8ft leader. Good thing it was barbless.

never mind a 30 foot leader, you can have a 200 foot leader just by tying your BBetty onto the very end of your line. about 15 feet up from the end of the line, tie the line into a palomar knot and add your hook. cast out with all your might and you've got yourself a 200 foot + long leader that bounces along and flosses the fish. AND, because your weight is at the END, you wont get nailed by DFO for leader length.
