Beware Online Shoppers
« on: February 12, 2013, 08:50:55 AM »

Just a heads up for those planning on ordering gear off Fishbum Outfitters website.

My wife ordered me a jacket off the site just before Christmas as a late present knowing that Fishbum was not shipping out orders during Christmas holidays as they were still trying to catch up.

So the order was placed Dec. 22, 2012 my wife did not hear anything from Fishbum so I had messaged the Facebook page Jan 11, 2013 and got the owner wanting me to add him as a friend and explained that their supplier had shut down over Christmas and that they will be shipping out orders shortly.

We did not hear anything for another 3 weeks so my wife called and got the owner saying that the order is shipping out soon and as for the order being delayed, the owner said that they apologize and that they will include a free t-shirt and a care package but my wife was to call their customer service person for update. The customer service person said that the order should be shipping out in 1 to 2 days and that she would call or e-mail with the tracking number(Feb. 4, 2012) and that they were sorry for the delay and that they "pride themselves on customer service".

Well it's now Wednesday evening no phone call or e-mail received so Thursday early morning I messaged Fishbum website and the owner e-mailed telling me to call customer service as the order has shipped. I called and got the customer service person my wife talked to and she said she will look into it and call me back or e-mail by the afternoon. It never happened!

I messaged the site again Friday morning stating how disappointed my wife and I were for the handling and misinformation on this order and that my wife would just like to cancel the order entirely and get a refund. No reply came so I message the Facebook page and still nothing!  It was only until this Sunday night after I had messaged the owner on his Facebook that he finally refunded the money(12:30PM).  I'm starting to think that if I did not get on this company that nothing would have been done and that my wife would be out money.  For a company that says they are big on Customer Service this was a big fail!!

If you are planning on purchasing Fishbum apparel I would suggest buying it from a retail store like Fred's or Berry's and not off their website. I just feel bad that my wife feels bad for not getting me that present but instead she wants to pay for a rod build that I have in the process, who can argue with that!

Yes...that's what I stated only the jacket that was ordered was fairly new at the time and that Fred's nor Berry's had it!

Sorry to hear of your problems Pin-nook, I've never ordered from Fishbum Outfitter's before but if I ever do I'll definitely be a little wary.
But hey like you said, the present is now a rod re-build so it's a win, win. Nice when a situation turns out reasonably good, except for all the time you and your wife invested.

It's great and sad at the same time!  My wife has literally bought most of my gear( Simms G4, Talisman, Kingfishers...) so much so that I literally have an account at a tackle shop to spend up to nearly $800.  The sad thing is I only have 1 day a week to actually get out and fish and those are rare!

BTW,  Does your wife have a sister as generous as her  ;) ;) ;D ;D ;D

I actually thought about reporting them but maybe it was just a freak glitch in their system but in any case I just wanted to warn people that on-line it's always as good as person to person transactions.  I also asked if I could add to the order that my wife made in 1 of the emails but I guess they don't like receiving more money because there was no reply.

LOL...as good as it sounds I'm starting to think that my wife does it cause she knows I'm won't complain when she tries to get me to do things I wouldn't do normally, kinda like hush money!

She knows my passion for fishing and at least she knows to snoop around and get a sense for what I like(with help from tackle shop of course!) and the gear that I use.

In my house its more about buying it, hiding it until she finally notices then say "ive had that for awhile how did you only notice it now?"
it pays to have loads of gear  ;D

HOOK - so far has snuck 2 Hardy reels and a switch rod in without notice  :o

Reporting someone to the BBB because they  refunded your money?

Please tell me you're joking-all's well that ends well.

Also if you gave this company a CC payment and received no goods then you had recourse that way-that's how CC companies work.

Ditto PayPal-I ordered something before Xmas from somebody who never shipped anything-going to his website I see that it's For Sale!  :o

So I sent him an email demanding action and right after that I opened a dispute with Paypal-the end result of which is  had my money back within 48 hours.

The odd part of this is that he ended up sending me a Teeshirt and a pair of line cutters for free I guess as a makeup gift except he never answered any emails or sent any explanations.

In the end a lot of these places are just some guy in a basement somewhere that's why I generally stick to bigger companies with a retail storefront like Tackledirect.com

Yup...I wrote a whole story cause I was joking! ::)

It took a bunch of e-mails after the owner said a couple times that the shipment has shipped but yet there were no tracking #'s. The girl working customer service first stated that they pride themselves on "Customer Service" but never answered the phone or e-mails after the first contact. If nothing showed up after then of course the best thing to do is report to BBB but he eventually refunded the money(probably because the e-mails got annoying...).  No statement or explanation given for what had happened but my wife got her money back an that's all that matters!

Just a warning to people thinking of purchasing with Fishbum Outfitters that this happened and that it could happen to anybody!
