The SSBC is asking for citizens of BC to get involved with saving the Kokish river. Please read below for information on the proposed IPP project on the Kokish and how you can help out.
Dear Steelheaders,
The Steelhead Society would like to encourage all anglers, even if you are not a steelheader to look through this summary on the proposed IPP project on the Kokish River. It seems like every time one turns around some part of our environment is being damaged. This project has the potential to make a run of steelhead go extinct. If this project is allowed to move forward it could set a huge precedence for other projects like it. Please take the time to read through the linked letters, watch the video and think about “what if this type of project was proposed on your favorite fishing spot?” The DFO has not approved an authorization for the current proposal for the Kokish IPP by Brookfield Renewable Power Inc. We have provided the contact information for several key people please take a few minutes and write a letter and send it expressing your concern for Kokish River steelhead. I have included a copy of my own letter, please use this an an example. While an email is good a hand written letter holds far more weight especially when emails fly around with so much regularity. Thank you for taking the time to review this.

Here's a taste of the incredible steelhead fishing you can find in rivers like the Kokish River. Unfortunately, the Kokish River is threatened by a Run of River Hydroelectric Project. The Southgate and Homathko Rivers are trout and salmon rivers good enough to have hosted a helicopter fishing trip for president Bush. These projects are just two of many projects that the BC government has allowed to threaten some of the greatest fishing in the world. Please inundate the BC government with emails, letters, and phone calls to put a stop to green-er power and demand that they find clean power.
Fly Fishing Fantasies plans to release their video, Paid in Full in 2011. Please email
