You need more detail of what you are fishing for, because the small bait casters will chuck lighter gear, but have no capacity for line.
I use a shimano curado, it will cast lures to about 1/4 oz, but you have to be careful and you can't giver, 3/8 oz if a good min weight with no problems.

The reel it self is great with a smooth cast and drag but it is not cheap.
It will hold enough line for a battle with any size salmon, Just i would not use it on the fraser if you hook a spring you could get spooled..
It is my go to reel for the medium to small flows..

small stuff is best chucked with a spin caster.

If you want to throw small stuff just make sure the line guide dis-engages when you are casting

good luck

I have an abu garcia.  So far 5 seasons and still running strong.  Old name with reputation.  Reasonable quality and cost.

One main benefit of a level wind/baitcaster (over spincaster) is the line control WHEN FLOAT FISHING a river.

If you are only planning to use the rod for casting (and retrieving) jigs, spinners, and spoons then a spining reel is your best bet as the main advantage of a baitcaster is meaningless in that application.  One a side note, I can cast a 1/4 jig or spinner effectively with a baitcaster but lighter than that and it would be pretty dicey so it depends on the size of lure you intend to huck.

I personally prefer level winds and if you are going to throw 1/4oz lures then an abou 4600 or calcutta 200 would be good choices (with 8-10 lb mono - 12 would be a bit heavy).
