Bella Coola River
« on: April 29, 2010, 03:51:58 PM »

Is it worth the trip and when during the summer is a good time to go?

I seem to recall mention of midsummer Pink and Chum?   And?  Chinook?

I'd be interesting to hear what you find out... I've always wanted to drive to Bella Coola and fish that area

First week of Oct. for northern coho, if they are still open. Caught some 18 to 20 lb. coho on spoons in about 1978.
Fablous fly fishing for cuttroat then also. We were fishing in the Walker Is. area. This was also a great spot to camp.
Good luck, and hope to here a report from you.

Feb-April trout fishing is decent (closed to steelhead fishing at this time) from the May 15 opener until late July chinook fishing can be decent.  Pinks in August. Chums are August through September followed by Coho starting in late August and finishing off in October. Depending on what you like to fish for, there is something to catch each month. The drive west of Williams lake is very scenic and the "Hill" is pretty cool. Lots if big mosquitos and bears.
