Single egg cures and brines

Looking for some recipes on how to do chum and spring singles. I want them to toughen up like rubber and milk like crazy! any tips would be much appreciated!

Pro cure wizard or last supper works well.  On the 3rd day of curing, take roe out of containers and lay them out on rack or waxed paper to dry them out some more.  You can them store them how you please.  there are some methods that involve boiling that I've heard about that makes them like rubber, but you'll have to buy the book to get that one.

Procure Last Supper = name of cure.

Besides Anise oil, are they any alternatives as anise appears rather expensive? Would plain borax be okay with single egg roe bags?
