Title: NFR: Should I get a PSP...
Post by: jettabambino on December 02, 2005, 10:20:55 PM
Being that i will be buying my wife a Ipod Nano for christmas she has generously offered to buy me a PSP.   I was wondering if anyone has one and if they reccomend them.  I figure they are good to have for fishing trips.. Wondering what you guys thought about it and if the cost is justified.... Also they say that they have WiFi capability but i was wondering if you can log on to a website and play people from all over the world of if the person had to be close by???

what do you say...

i have one my self and they are coool. but id rather spend the 350$ on somehting else. the graphics are good and what not. u can get the internet downloaded on it as well. and im not sure if u can play people all over the world. not sure. they are cool though but im not into the gamming thing myself.

for wi-fi gaming so far, i love the nintendo ds. i have a psp but mainly use it to watch umd movies, which come in handy on long plane rides. the psp is a lot harder to use, but the screen is bigger and clearer. the nintendo ds is super easy to use and the touch screen and voice feature is awesome for some games.  the psps is super heavy, but looks really sharp, and just like the nano ipod, the screen scratches super easy, so getting a screen protector for it would be a good idea.

If you want to get your son the best gift..........Get him an xbox and HALO 2, great single player and multi player game. Dont forget the xbox live kit, youll probably see alot less of your son after he gets this.

Why would I buy him an XBOX when the XBOX 360 is out now. He is 9 years old and I wouldnt let him play Halo. My wife tried to get the XBOX 360 and stood in line for it but they were sold out before they got to her. I will buy the XBOX 360 in the new year sometime. He already has a Gamecube and I have a PS2. I wanted to get him a portable though. The PSP is great because it does multiple things and is not just a portable game player. He can watch movies, listen to music and play games. Cant go wrong with it.

Ditch the PSP, which would only entertain you for a few years. Get a new fishing rod, which will keep you entertained for many decades. ;D

No you can go online with any psp it is just way better to have the giga pack because you can download stuff and have tons of games that you put on it or you can put loads of songs on it.

The games you can put on are unlimited anygame that you can find on the internet you can put on it. psp games super nintindo, and what ever else you can find

no i would like a brand new one....

what do people mean that you can put nintendo games on it.... how so?

Last question.. for all of you guys that have one... have you noticed any dead pixels yet?  I hear they have a dead pixel situation that sony is aware of..

yes you can put nintindo games on it if you have a computer that has them on it. then you find a program that allows you to put it on to the memery chip.(or you can drag the games from your hard drive over to your psp but make sure you format the memory stick before playing any games or anything, just look through the setting on your psp and it will say format memory stick)you have to know how everything works before you can get the games on it. Ask someone to show you how to do it , it will be easyier, If you want a game on your psp just download it

The dead pixis are only for the first ones that came out but now i think they improved it a bit. BUt if they go dead all you do is bring it in and you get a new one.

Usually, by the time I'm done fishing my 14 hrs, it's time to eat and get some rest for the next morning.  Electronic games while fishing....pffft! ;)

When you're in a boat on the lake, "fishing" can be the simple act of leaving your line in the wate while you sleep ;)  It's all in the definition ;D
