So once if a while getting picked up in a bar works out like a fairy tale.  Prince charming really is out there somewhere.

I know the restaurant I went to Cafe Petersborg is old. I believe it was opened in 18th century.

Dang, if I was 10 years older it could have been me! If I was Australian of course, and at that bar at that exact time.... ;D
I guess I have to wait for Prince William... ::)

Yes, it is. Why is that so hard to believe?  ::)  ;)

Does this mean everyone gets a week off now to celebrate?

Unfortunately not! It would have been nice though... :)
When the Crown Prince and Crown Princess got married in May 2004 it was a big celebration with numerous big events like concerts etc. going on all over the country. Especially in Copenhagen. I wasn't in Denmark at that time though when all this was going on, guess where I was....  ;D  ::)

I know the restaurant I went to Cafe Petersborg is old. I believe it was opened in 18th century.
Where?

Cafe Petersborg is near the water front. Near Churchillparken.
It is in the OLD Russian consulate building (old like 17th century).
Great atmosphere.
I took the ferry from Oslo arrived at Coppenhagen a beautiful city.

Bwi Bwi, I didn't know you've been to DK. ;D You probably took the same overnight ferry cruise trip (http://www.fishingwithrod.com/member/gallery/album52/oslo01) from Oslo to Copenhagen that we took twice. Did you check out the duty free shop on board where the Scandinavians madly load up their shopping carts with booze as it is tax free? ;D What did you eat in Oslo? The first time we went, we ended up spending CAD$15 (that's right, FIFTEEN) on ONE Burger King meal (a burger, fries, drink). :o

Tax in Denmark probably just got raised again to pay for child support of the new Royal baby. ;D ::)

Ya expensive alright I stayed at the Rainbow hotel on the mountain in Oslo it cost 450 CDN a night!!! and the room is smaller than my dome room in university!!!. And Macdonald wow I thought I was in a 4 star restaurant. Can't believe the price.
Yap duty free shop was loaded with people. The ferry ride is nice though, complete with stateroom.  :D

Oh but the MacDonald I went to was on second floor at the square, they have a few TV showing soccer games  ;D ;D

I was watching the Food Channel tonite (Good Eats), and the show said that the Danes eat the most candy per capita in the world.  Just in case anybody was wondering which country consumes the most candy per capita. ;D ;D
Hey Nina, next time you come over can you bring me some real Danish "candy" to sample?!?! :P :P

In Copenhagen

hmm...could be the City Hall of Copenhagen. Is it right in front of this big square and just next to Strøget? (the pedestrian shopping street). I don't remember it being near any bridge but then again there are quite a few bridges in Copenhagen.....

Yes there is a big square in front of it. A beautiful building. Inside is not open for tour though.  :'(
I think it could be the city hall. From window looking in, it's used as office building.

Walking through those old streets and buildings, sure is nice.  Compare the price of food there (hambergers) to exotic Japanese food here. It makes Tojo's price pocket change.
One dinner occation 5 people set us back 1,000 CDN!!!

Child birth? no......well, you do get a certain amount of money for each child you have, from 1800 to 2500 dollars per child per year, depending on the age of the child. Also, if you are a single parent you get another 900 dollars per child per year.

It is.  It's a shame that Denmark's Monarchy hasn't gone the same way as France, Portugal, Russia, Turkey, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, and Italy, Egypt, Iran, Poland....

CHOP!! either by Guillotine or ballot box.

Sorry Folks.  I just think that monarchies are pretty worthless institutions.  But then again Hamlet was Prince of Denmarch, so I guess something good has come of it.  ;)  Great Play.  I suggest it to all.

Bwi Bwi, we've never been, but I think we just might now. ;) I was looking at the price list, it is fairly reasonable. Would you recommend it?

No_way, Denmark need its Royal Family, how on earth would the newspapers survive if you take that away from them? ;D

Did you try Jensen's Bøfhus (http://www.jensens.com/238.aspx) while you were there? It's a bit like our Milestones or KEG. The food is fair to good, the service is so so most of the time. The price however, is the same as any fast food restaurants, so we usually prefer to go there instead of MacDonalds.

Pistolpete

Stay away from that Crown Royal. Drinking and boating don"t go together. No wonder you didn't catch any coho on the Harrison, you were going in circles.

Yes, I do share some of you view points, but not all. First off, because it is the oldest monarchy in Europe it has a great deal of history and cultural value that I expect Canadians might have a tough time understanding. Secondly, the Danish royal family is very popular and they do a great job representing Denmark out in the world and help boost for instance trade and so forth. They do this way better than any politician would ever be able to. Of course, there's is some controversy in having a royal family and a democracy at the same time since no one should be "worth" more by birth. Then again, the royal family is not allowed to vote and is not allowed to voice political opinions either. It is more like a golden cage if you ask me.

Lately, there has been some talk about the future of the royal family, but it seems that as long as they behave and do their job properly and stay out of scandals, unlike the English royal family, we will keep them.

By the way, I never read Hamlet, don't even know the story  ;D  ;D

They're not allowed to express opinions?  That doesn't sound particularly democratic either.  That system, like Canada's is a "constitutional monarchy".  Usually monarchs will allow parlaments to form do to some "sign it or die" threat from there subjects.

There are a lot of people in Canada that STRONGLY support the monarchy for the same reasons you say.  But even more that don't care or are like me  ;D

Oh, don't read Hamlet, see it.  It is a play. Rent a copy and watch it, then watch it again.  It Shakespeare and not easy for people to understand if you haven't gotten an ear for it yet.  But while it is hard to understand to modern speakers there are reasons why he is widely regarded as the greatest English language writer of all time.
