If all you want is chums I would reccomend the Stave or Chehalis. Much thicker in there right now.....

If you want chum that you can possibly keep I would try the lower Fraser. You can barfish for them or throw spinners, spoons or blades. Its possible to find some clean looking ones in those systems but not as many as the lower Fraser.

Good point eddie, lots of chrome chums to be had in the lower Fraser but by the sounds of things scalper is looking a little more for sport than for dinner fare.

If its sport than head to the Stave its as easy as that.

Oh Ya that would be Stave. Went there today. Lots of fish. If his tired of fishing. Just turn around look behind there is the spawning channel. He can see the fish in there.

If you're looking to keep them, don't go to the Chehalis.
You must release there until Nov. 1.
Don't know if there is any similar restriction on the Stave.
Check your Reg.

The chums are everywhere in the Stave, the trick is to find a spot where they are not complete boots.
Maybe find a spot with some flow, try near the dam on either side.

Just a word of warning, I have brought newbies to the Stave in the hopes of some non-stop action. In all three cases they were turned off by all the snagging and dead fish/smell everywhere.  Your brother is young so he may enjoy seeing all the fish regardless of their condition.

Not trying to bash the stave, it can produce some nice coho, but as a first experience to salmon fishing Im not sure.
