Well since my birthday is around the corner. I decided to by a new reel. I looked at abu's but did not like the cast button on the side. Looked at the cheaper shimano's, they just did not look up to the part if you hooked in to a big white spring in the Vedder. So the good guys at Reaction showed me there new line of reels. I ended up buying a Tica reel. Looks almost the same as a Calcutta 400. Has a little nicer finish than the Okuma my second choice. I hope this reel will handle what ever I through at it. Was looking around the net and found out they are quite popular with surf fishing.

u can get abus with the cast button at the same spot as the shimanos u know. and the button on the side on my oppinoin is better when u have a spring on peeling like cuz when u thumb it u wont accidently hit the cast butting and get all messed up. just my oppinon

So somebody is handling Tica now.
hmmm...... :-\
Who's servicing them-Mike's?

he's pretty much the only guy that services anything, although service isnt there strong point.
I personally dont liekt he cast button onthe abu's except on the ultra casts, which is like that of the shimanos. Im sure all the shimanos would handle a spring. But if you want the real hardworking reel get the bantam 50. it is the workhorse of the shimanos, but unfortunatly they are discontinueing the reel ??? >:( but like the regular abus the casting button is on the side.
