Title: trolley rig fishing

 Was looking over an interesting artical on peir fishing for salmon in California, they use a rig called trolley rig, where you use two rods, one rod is cast out with a big weight to work as an anchor then another line is attatched to it with a herring or anchovy under a float and slid down the anchor line. Just wondering if anyone has tried this type of fishing? I was thinking this may be fun to try at ambleside if it is legal to do so here.

It's legal to use a rig like that sure but I'll tell you why we don't.
All kinds of people cast, cast, cast and they'll tangle your rig all the time-so will boats trolling by.
We have no live bait available here even if you found some how would you transport/keep it alive?
As I said it's possible but impractical.

Couldn't you just use shiner perch making sure you don't use over your limit.
