Title: So which river has fresh fish?
Post by: Simon2 on November 12, 2004, 12:33:36 PM
Seems like most of the rivers now have "boots".  Is the fishing season over?  Shouldn't there be a run of Coho entering the Chehalis?  Is the Vedder done for the season?  Thanks

its pretty late.

There are som fresh chum moving into the Squamish every day, but they turn dark VERY quickly.

From what I have heard, there are a few chromers left in the Chedder, as well as the Chehalis, but coho are slowing down.

Steelhead should start soon.....from what I have been told

Bonked a very chrome hatchery doe at Nicomen Slough this morning. Not a speck of colour on her. Released a large wild buck that was graying, but bonkable.

I've caught very clean fish in the slough the first week of December, and seen, but not caught, clean coho in Norrish on New Year's Day.

The season is certainly slowing, but the fat lady ain't singin' yet.

Yup,  the salmon season is coming to an end but there are still some good opportunities out there, for some fresh fish.  For example, a few years ago, a friend of mine caught a few chrome coho's from the cap in late november.  You never know when you might run into a school of fresh fish.  Having said that,  I'm looking forward to the upcoming steelhead season because I can't wait to try out my new centerpin rod an reel. ;D ;D ;D

Never mind waiting for the steelhead season to try your new centerpin setup, go and lay a beating on the salmon. ;)

Late December :(  Nice chance to spend some time getting reels cleaned and lubed during the break. :)

went to the squamish with my uncle and dad for about 3 or 4 hours. landed a bunch and kept four. speaking of centerpins i  brought out my centerpin today and had a blast. my arm kinda hurt but hey i love that feeling. the chums are still pretty clean but won't be for much longer. like aquaboy said it is pretty late.

A species of which I have yet to learn the finer points.
