Title: Headwaters skagit proposed mining operation.
Post by: GENERAL-SHERMAN on June 01, 2020, 01:20:37 PM
I don’t know the full details but have hiked into this area (silverdaisy and claimstake mountain)serval times . Usually 1 or 2 trips a season. Crews have been working up there the last year and a half and Have built a road into the alpine and what looks to be a mining camp on the top. Here’s a link to the project and you can sign to fight this project . I believe gold and copper were the minerals being mined.  https://bcwf.bc.ca/initiatives/protect-the-skagit-headwaters-from-mining/#newmode-embed-9022-11524  Please protect the skagit watershed. Both valleys leading from this mine meet up near the 26k bridge on the skagit as well as slightly downstream from Sumallo grove on the manning side. If anybody has any more information it would be appreciated. Has this project been squashed or is it still in progress ?
