Title: Capilano
Post by: VAGAbond on November 10, 2019, 09:34:12 AM
I used to fish the Cap occasionally in the past and often visited the hatchery to see what was there.   I live in Richmond and due to traffic visits have become an onerous trek so I haven't been there in some years.   I visited yesterday and was somewhat surprised at the fish I saw.

The holding tanks had several hundred coho that were the smallest collection I have ever seen, most probably less than a pound or only slightly more.   These could be jacks separated by the hatchery but my question is whether this small size has become typical for the Cap.?  Are there decent sized coho in the run?

I was also surprised at the number of Chinook in the river, way more than I used to see.   Is this a new normal and are they whites or reds?
