Title: Similkameen Flies

Hey guys,

I'm still pretty new to fly fishing. I'm getting better with seasonal fly selection in the lower mainland area, but we will be stopping by the Princeton area for a couple days this weekend and I plan to throw some flies in the river.

I'm hoping some of you wouldn't mind sharing some recommendations on which patterns I should be using on this system, in that area, this time of year.

fish are quite small, bring a selection of nymphs.

This weekend? Expect high off color water! Be careful!

Include some larger dark flies - maybe a black wooly bugger about #8 or larger stonefly nymph. Fish close to shore were the current is less relenting.

otherwise

- use basic nymphs like a hare's ear or prince nymph

- same with dries - Adam's & Elk Hair Caddis

- swinging wet flies (ie Leadwing Coachman) or soft hackles is a fun way to fish, covers water efficiently and is effective on wild trout in streams that aren't all that rich in trout food.

don't get too hung uip on size. #10s to #14 should cover it.

- lot's of whitefish in that river too.

I'm half hoping the water quality is decent due to low snow pack etc, but I know chances are it won't be.

Nonetheless I'm in the area so may as well throw a few! Will let you know how it is
