Like most government stuff I suspect it's given for optics, meanwhile the plan is to massively increase fish farming.

I just want to exactly how itll bring the salmon back lol. It's a joke. As long as we're logging in Salmon watersheds, they're never going to come back in numbers.

i don't get. they don't give funding and people bitch, then they do give some money and people still bitch. it's better than nothing at all.

It's how it's being spent. The point being, you cant just throw money at something and expect it to turn around. The money is just going towards researchers, FN Bands and commercial fishermen. As far as I understand this vague fund is someone in one of those groups has to develop a solid plan to help save the salmon and they recive money to help achive it. Basically saying, the feds cant figure it out so......... here's some money, help this problem go away.

I've got a plan. Donate the $140 to help move open pen fish farms inland. End of story

It's how they've handled the aboriginal problem to this point, no surprise it's how they approach the salmon problem..........

Glad to see the funds allocated to wild salmon.  Not sure it will be spent wisely, but wait and see.

Trudeau's deficit budget spreading billions around to a lot of different sectors to win the upcoming election is the real thing at play.

Throwing money at affordable housing, pharmacare etc etc to pander to as many voters as possible while spending $20B in deficit spending through the new budget.
