Title: Custom made in BC centerpin reels- Reel Advantage
Post by: adriaticum on November 14, 2018, 12:43:21 PM
Has anyone used these reels before?
I see ads on Craigslist and they have Facebook page.
Can't say I've seen any of them in person.

Check his FB page, there are some details there.
I think 4.5 inch reel and 235 grams. Something like that.

These where at the last fishing swap sale. Looked and spun nice, but for the life of me I can't remeber if they were a bushing or bearing reel? Pictures appear to be bearing?
Turned out I knew the one partner from school days, another story........

Anyways I spoke with the 2 partners ( son in law and father in law) the father in law builds them and the son in law markets them. They are trying a slow approach by advertising on FB / Craigslist. They really are a nice reel, but they tell me their problem is everyone has to have a Milner / Islander or Campbell so its hard to convince guys to give them a try. I told them I would demo one for them :) but they were not going for that.
If I needed more reels I would get my hands on one of these.

I think they are bearing reels. They mention it somewhere.
But I'm not a fan of the drag lever. I prefer Islander type "button"

To be honest with you I'd rather go for this or Campbell reel. Milner is just over priced in my opinion.
I don't think $700 is a good value for a reel.
Islander is pushing it with $450 for new ones. But I'd pay it.
I am looking for a reel that will last me a lifetime and Islander seems to have all the qualities of such a reel.

Looks good. I'd get one if I needed it. Either that, or 100$ one from ali express lol

They sure look nice, I think I’ll give one a go, if it’s in the buy and sell in a couple weeks, doesn’t mean there not good.

Probably surprising decent for the price. I have some fly reels from Amazon in the $35-50 range and they are actually pretty good. I'll bet those centrepins will be similar to an entry level Okuma or Amundson at half the $$
