Stamps,Esk. Blue Bombers ( now that Nichols QB is back. ) RedBlacks ( nearly typed Roughriders...the old days Sk & Ottawa were the Roughriders ..that is a head scratcher. Imagine if there was the Toronto Maple Leafs & the Vancouver Maple Leafs !!!! And other good team Tigercats. F as in fail is the Lions,Roughriders,Argos & Als.
5 teams look like they know what they are doing & have good execution & 4 teams just hope to do well each play but no overall leadership or desire.
Lions gave away Doug Fludie Reilly QB Harris RB.
Lions defense is good but when their offence sits on the bench most of the time...D gets tired & makes mistakes. Early in the season & Lions are hoping for first place. 2 W's & Grey Cup is theirs. Wally B last season. Lions got to throw the ball to Burham 40% of passing plays at least. The guy has moves to get open & good hands. Then when the D zeros in to Burham it will open up the other receivers & running game. 8 minutes to 1/2 time & it does not look good for the BC Lions.

As the QB goes so goes the offence. Yes lack of believing in himself & the play calling is not good either.
Very hot in Winnipeg ( S Manitoba ) during the day. 40's C.

Think Chris has a good idea. Lions state he is not ready to go but he was dressed in Winnipeg & assume he will be dressed for Sat. return match up? Why do they dress a guy if he is not ready to go.
But should he get in the game by some miracle he must not take off & run up field. He should not throw long bombs unless he leaves the running backs in the backfield to protect him. All he has to do is throw lots of 5-7 yard quick hitters. Throw screens...
If he gets the ball away fast he will not be a target to be tackled. Hold on the ball too long & WHAM he'll get nailed.
Remember when Lulay got his shoulder injury? They were on the 10-15 yard line & Lulay scrambled & ran for a TD, & that's when he got the shoulder injury.
Last year he got a start ahead of lack of performance Jennings & early in the game Lulay scrambled towards the sidelines & got tackled by two players. Knee injury. Crazy.
Both major injuries when he tried to either make yards by scrambling or going into the end zone.
Moral of the story is: Lulay should leave the running to the backs & if he runs go down on the field when any opposing player comes within 5 feet. Remember Buck Pierce ? The guy would just stand there like a statue & throw a long bomb as a lineman was two feet away. End result was like a Mack Truck crashing into a big box of feathers !!!! How many times did Buck P just get nailed "big time" ...2-3-4 x per game? That's why he suffered so many injuries & retired early. The guy had a great arm & threw so accurate but he had no skill to dodge on coming tackles. Is getting nailed BIG TIME 4x in a game risking injury worth completing a passes???
Only in a Grey Cup & time running out & ya need the points.
Great QBs like Flutie or Danny Mac very very seldom got hit because they sensed the heat thus they threw the ball or they ran sideways or they just threw the ball to the sidelines...
Lulay throw quick hitters & let the recievers fight for extra yak yds.
Lions lose the return match & the media /fans will bring out their swords & start booing / writing neg. sport articles....pressure builds...changes then will be made. Jennings knows he will be under the microscope on every play. ( hey pissit pissit...get the ball boy to take some air out of the ball. Heard it works. Story in New England not so many moons ago... ;D )

Lots of quality players now wearing the Bomber jersy.
Are the Bombers going to put up a fight? Or will they just make it look good not wanting to match the energy the Lions surely will bring to this game. Lots of leaders on the Bomber team so think they will not go down easily in defeat. But seen it many times. A CFL team wins a few games & then they play a real stinker game like they would rather be in bed sleeping.
Hoping for a real exciting game.
The Stamps have a super team & if they played last year's Grey Cup on a dry field & mild temperatures surely they would of beaten the Argos handily. Get snow on a field & the talented skilled team has lost it's advantage big time.

How did Chris know? Lulay a few days ago still was not ready to go according to all reports.
Chris says that Lulay will be playing & generate a W.
After that 1st half 17-zippo it did not look good.
Play man said Burham did not make the catch with zero on the clock at halftime.
Study the play & Burnham makes the catch but the D man in the tackle punches the ball out of Burnham's hands. Honestly it should be a live ball ...catch & fumble & if Lions recover it's a TD.
But as it turns out the 2nd half went the Lion's way. 17/17 & with no time a field goal BC LIONS WIN !!!!
20/17 unreal. Fans got their $'s worth that's for sure. Ex Lions nearly killed us again. Lulay took some big hits but still kept playing like a Timex Watch...keep on ticking....

Two different game tonight. First half Lions were plain awful, can't tackle, can't cover anyone, questionable coaching. Season ticket holders in my section including myself, didn't really think the Lions were going to win. Different second half, Lulay begin to get his rhythm back, defence forced a couple of interceptions, held the Bombers on 3rd and 1. My voice is hoarse

Lions vs Ottawa. Watched the replay but only the first half. ( getting too late) Then checked out the sports report & watched the highlights saw how the Lions lost at the end of the game. Well it's an away game & very hot weather but nevertheless they nearly got the W. Thought Lulay played well but at times went for too many 25 so so range passes down field (1st half as did not watch 2nd half as mentioned) & his receivers were covered well. Result was a non catch. Result 3rd down & punt the ball. Lulay was doing great with the running & short easier to complete shorter passes. Then he gets impatient & throws 20-25 yder in a crowd. Guess ya can't win them all. Record 2-3 but Ottawa 3-2.
Costly penalties too hurt the team. Lions need to be more mentally tough it seems & execute. But they are better with Lulay at QB that is for sure.

Lots of players on a team & all it takes 5 guys to screw up on any given play & it can cost a team a game. No wonder head coaches of football teams look so so serious. They never smile. Unless they win of course. Wonder who the Lions play next ? Hopefully not a top team...they need an average team to best up on. They need a win.

FA you say Calgary...hopefully the Stamps are in a rare lazy mood & have a bad game OR as ya say it just may be a long night because should they come out & play to their usual level on offence & defence they may score 28-40 pts & the Lions 20-25. My guess anyways.
Go Lions go ..but we do have the Lulay factor so we just never know. He's a leader. If Lulay has an average game then "good night Irene" Lions lose for sure. As long as the Lions do not lose it at the end like in their last game....

Johnny Manziel made his CFL debut tonight against the Hamilton Ti-Cats. It was very auspicious one as the Als were humbled 50-11. Manziel threw 4 interceptions, although one wasn't his fault.

FA yes the debut of Johnny Football was not a good one. Think they put him in against the wrong team for his first start. He came from the Tigercats so it just added the extra pressure. Plus Hamilton lost 3 games & they were so up in this game to get a win. They were hungry Tigers.
How about the big comeback by the Argos. They were so behind in the score but....won it at the end. Their new QB came thru big-time in the second half.
Lions are hungry for a win. What's on the menu. Oh tasty Stampers that's all. Sat. night is the showdown. Will Wally be happy or will his lips twitch & more grey hairs by the fourth qtr. only time will tell. Please nuke countries do not blow up the world yet....need to watch some tv sports.

As expected, the Stamps remain the only undefeated team with a 27-18 win over the Lions. Lions' downfall was their inability to stop 2nd and long. They play the Edmonton Eskimoes next Thursday night at BC Place.

BC Lion kicks the ball & the flag is thrown. Wally B after that had his lips twitch & hair got more grey.
Lions remind me of the Canucks. Linden resigned. ( nice way to leave but in reality me thinks in reality resigning is like a firing in a lot of cases ) The boo birds maybe want Wally to step down or resign, or get plain old CFL style "Your Fired".

No way was I going to watch a football game on the boob tube when it was such a nice sunny PM. Planned to watch later around 10:30 pm ( taped ) but those plans fell thru. Now gotta try not to hear the score till I watch the game Fri pm around "whatever". Have a feeling the Lions lost as no one posted on the game. ( too pissed / angry I assume or fans celebrated a W & too hung over to post ??? Which is it ?

Surprise A-BOATER, believe it or not the Lions won ! Great game. Edmonton scored on the opening drive. Lions were being pushed around in the first half but regrouped at the half and came out and outscored the Eskimos 21-3 in the final 30 minutes to win 31-23. Very entertaining game. It was hot and humid in the stadium. I shudder to think what it would have been like if the stadium had been closed.

I thought the Lions were going to lose as the Esks were within striking distance. Thought the defence of the Lions played a great game!!! Rushed Reilly alot...so he could not set up. Plus DBs made a lot of key plays. What was Bouno thinking going for two pts in the 4th. A point would give them 8pt lead. They go for 2 & miss thus were 7 pts ahead.
A TD & single ties the game. At least if your 8 pts ahead it forces the Esks to go for a 2 pt conversion just to tie.
Anyways thank goodness the Lions got a W.

Think the time on the clock was around 9-10 minutes left in the game.
If the Lions kick the single they go ahead by 8pts. Kicking a single is successful 95% of the time I assume. Ahead by 8 pts then would force the Esks to get a TD for 6pts but they would be still down by 2pts thus they would surely go for a 2pt conversion. Not sure the odds on successful 2 pt conversions 40-50% my guess. Then if the Esk do not make the two pts the Lions are still ahead by 1 pt.

Hindsight is always 20/20. But your right if the Lions make the 2 pts they are ahead by 9 thus the Esks need a TD , a 1 pt conversion & field goal to win by a pt.

Lions vs Argos. Close game. Exciting finish. Thought Lions would get the field goal & win the game in the 4th but the fumble. At least Burham got 4 receptions. He is sure hands & should be the go to guy when the Lions marched down the field.
Arcenneax after the catch should of just went down on the field as he had a 1st down but he tried to plow into 3 Argo defenders only to get the ball jarred out of his hands. Boo!

Undisciplined penalties especially on offence killed the Lions. Two offsides on Shaq Johnson, two illegal blocks on Kevin Elliott and illegal procedures on Jovan Olafioye. Inexcusable.

Yes the Riders are doing good as their QB is mixing it up perfectly. Short & long passes & run plays.
He is putting a nice touch on the ball so it's very catchable. On location & right speed.
He also has good timing as the ball gets to his receivers right after they make their break. The move by the receiver gives him a 2-3 sec. window before the D man can react & close in.
Beat the undefeated Stamps last week & the Lions last night.
Lions should of won this one though as there were so many dropped balls. Then with seconds to go the Lions decide to go on 3rd & 1. A field goal would of tied the game. Lions did not make the yd. they needed. Quite the last year Buono is having as head coach !!!!! >:( :o :(
Busy last night so had to wait till today to watch the game. Truly thought the Lions would come back & get the W. The Rider fans at BC Place were rejoicing & the BC Lion fans very long faced. They have every right to feel shafted. Lion team does not seem focused. Too many nervous rookies.
In this league the odds are a team will make the playoffs. 6 teams have a chance to win the Grey Cup after the regular season so to miss out a team has had to play poorly. Boooooooooooooooo !!!

"crucial 3rd down" ....QB sneak earlier in the game was barely made. Should of ran a sweep.
Lions get that 1st down & then possibly get a TD or in the least 3pts to tie.
BC Lions gotta rev up the engines so in the 4qtr. they are ahead by 2 TDs & can coast to victory.
Lions need more passes in the middle of the field 7-8 yd passes. They throw too many long throws to the wide side ( hard throw to complete & alittle off it's 6 pts the other way )& if complete go for 8 yds regardless. Why not throw over the middle or hash mark area. Offence play selections need to be changed.

Finally a BC Lion win. This game was ugly though. Seems the offence players on both teams had a dazed look. FLAT. Thankfully the Lions defence played very well most of the time.
Ottawa & Lions had that "we do not believe in ourselves" attitude. Lulay had his eye poked so he sat out most of the game. Our backup seems to play well in that very roll. Back up & gets called in.
Edmonton Esk coach was the same when he played QB. Played great when coming off the bench but not as a starter.
Willis had rocket blasters on his shoes. He had fast bursts & ran down the Ottawa QB for 3-4 sacks !!!
At least the Lions won with a margin & not the usual nail biter right to the last play of the game.
Ottawa was flat on offence for the most part but was it their play or was it the Lions shutting them down ????

In BC he threw for over 600 yds in a game & that record was broken shortly after. He had a rocket arm. He could throw a 60-70 yard pass I think. Name? Also how about our likeable coach from the mid 90s !
As for the CFL I think they should have Kelowna have a team. Games should have 18,000-20,000 with 1000 fans from Kamloops / another 1000 from Penticton , 600-800 from Vernon, 100's from other smaller communities. Charter buses could bring in 2000 fans thus to have less traffic on the roads. Plus they could have 1 pm start games on weekends for their home games thus daylight still for drive home.
( less accidents ) Kelowna Assassins !!! When the Lions are the pits we BC residents could then pull for the Assassins !!!! ;D
Danny Barrett is his name. QB Dunigan broke his record for offence in a game right after Danny threw for over 600 yds or total offence.

Watched ch 8 All Star Wrestling back in the day...1960s & there were some good tag teams ...John & Chris Tolos, Abdullah the Butcher & Dr. Jerry Graham, Don Leo Jonathan & Patty Barrett, Gene Kiniski & Hard Boiled Haggerty, Don & Roy McCarthy, The Kangaroos. (Roy Hefferman & Al ? ) & other good teams but one that was really rough & tough & good wrestlers as well were a masked team named The Assassins !!!! Sometimes they would put a metal plate disc in their mask & then head butt their opponent on his forehead. He'd nearly be knocked out thus it was 1-2-3 ring the bell Assassins WIN!!!
( yes I know pro wrestling is not a true sport...nevertheless there is pain involved & these wrestlers in real life are tough as they come !!! ) Yes Halifax is in the CFL sights but hopefully Kelowna next after that.

And like last game Lulay started the game & yanked out because of injury. He now has to be known as a QB that has an injury reputation. Just like a past BC & Winnipeg QB who got injuried a lot. White guy too.

Now out Mr Jennings has to step up to the plate. Hopefully he will lead us to a Grey Cup in Wally's last coaching year. A yr to remember or forget ...to be or not to be.

Lions need to score at least 28 pts or more if they play a quality team such as the Tigercats Stamps Esks Bombers... seems the Lion offense is barely putting up 14 pts per game & the defense adds to the score via takeovers & a run into the end zone. A good pressure defense will have the QB to rush his throws & that means incomplete or interceptions in a lot of cases.
Oh ya the other white QB that got injured a lot was Buck Pierce.
His main problem was he'd drop back in the pocket & stand like a statue till he threw the ball.
The big D linemen would bare down & have a still target. BAM !!! Buck would get hit by the train or tank or semi truck !!!!
Danny Mac hardly got hit because he felt the pressure & he'd get the ball off & he'd move sideways.

I was so happy the Lions went ahead near end of the game but the Tigercats scored quick in a few plays to take over the lead. BC Lions had the ball & with a 3rd & 2 went for a long pass & failed !!! Then too many things happened to even type on.....all I can say ...WHAT A MIRACLE COMEBACK !!!! A Burnham toe 1 inch inbounds ...etc... OT & a Lions W !!!!
Thought for sure the Lions would lose the game after a long failed pass on 3rd & 2 in reg time. ( talk about a super bad call !!! ) only a miracle got the Lions a win.

Yes you are so right. A 45 yd attempt wise is my guess makable 75-90% of the time. It would of cemented the W.

Jennings made such well thrown passes under the pressure situation. With such little time in regulation the Lions got a TD & that 2pt conversion with the toe in. Then in OT things went their way !!!
Hamilton is not a pushover team. FA with such a great great exciting game "maybe" you should donate a $100 to the BC Lions ! ;D Fans got their money's worth that's for sure.

Gee I see clearly now...with the more losing than winning the BC Lions should give you $100!!! (assume...in the history of the BC Lions from start to present in all the games total they played ...pre season regular season & playoffs my guess is the Lions lost more games than they won ??? Or maybe they won more than they lost ???? )

Empire Stadium hands down although I prefer the individual seats at BC Place rather than the bench seats.

Totally agree. Like the PNE location for football. Empire Stadium could of been upgraded a bit at a time ..better seating, retractable roof,...with football tickets one could take in the "fair" as a bonus. Win / win situation. It was all about the Skytrain going downtown thus Canucks & Lions got moved.
In my thinking the Canucks & Lions should still be playing at the "fair grounds.
Let's get Jimmy Pattison to increase his legacy & build a football & ice rink there & ya let him put his name on both. The Skytrain could be branched there too. The PNE line. ( Jimmy can pay for that too )

Unfortunately there isn't many restaurants around Empire Stadium. The advantage of a downtown arena and stadium is the number of restaurants one can partake in a pre-game meal or after game drink

Lions heads just were not in this game. They just showed up & went thru the motions.
They did not come to compete.

A total embarrassment. Lions weren't prepared to play and the coaches were unable to make any in game adjustments. After the final game, the total coaching staff should be given their walking papers.

The crazy part is after the regular season 6 teams make the play-offs. Teams with a losing record still can dance in the post season. Honestly I'd add in 1 extra regular season game to the schedule & have only the top 4 teams go to the post season.
The reg. season has to mean something. If only 4 teams had the chance to make it then every reg. season game would really mean something. Teams would have to fight hard to make it & they definately would have a winning record at the end. Lion players were shaking hands & laughing it up after yesterday's game. They take losing too easy.
The CFL in the past after a loss or a win the team showed it. A loss they were not happy campers...a win they were happy & tried just as hard the next game. Past 1960s 1970s 1980s teams had CFL greats who took a loss seriously. ( long faces ) guys like Ronny Lancaster etc....

Lions were never known as a good away team.
Have no idea on the history of wins losses in away compared to home games in their history. Nevertheless bet the margin is quite big. Lots of losses as the visiting team & more wins as the home team.
Game looked decent for awhile but the Lions went down in flames.....
The LA Dodges were up 4-0 but lost 9-6 in tonight 's game. In the series down 3-1....they lost in flames tonight. Canucks vs Pens looked also decent but suddenly 4-0 ...only about 4 minutes to go...down in flames !
All three games looked decent then suddenly the flood gates opened up & the thrill of victory & agony of defeat. One team wants a few beers & the other losing team wants a big piece of apple pie & ice cream.

Yep lightning strikes 2x. Lions get owned tonight by the Stamps. Got dominated in all 3 phases of the game. Nothing more need to be said....other than the Stamps were trying to get the W so to lock in a first place finish. The Lions win or loss had no bearing. They go to Hamilton for a play-off game.
Lions looked sluggish & the Stamps were energized & focused.
But honestly fans take the effort to go to the game / plus fork out the $$$ they deserve to be entertained. Plus where is the team pride ? This lazy effort honestly shows there is a weakness with this team.
The Lions will only prove me wrong if they come out with all guns blazing even if they lose next week. In the least give it their all.
I'll eat my shorts ( under wear ) if the Lions win the Grey Cup in 2018 ;D

The players were not prepared & the fans went home very unhappy & frustrated. Like why did we come here tonight. No effort. The QB change should of been done 1/2 way thru the 2nd Qtr.
Jennings tried to kick start the team but the players looked flat.
Big changes coming next yr.

Some bobble heads do not even look like the person but they nailed Wally's.
It actually looks like him.
When Rod & Chris retires from fishing ( health or age ) bobble heads should be made of those two guys.
If so hope it looks like them. Have to have a Maple Leaf logo tattoo on Chris's.
But with these two terrible outings possibly the Lions will suck it up so to say & surprise in the coming playoffs. Yes I like Wally & wish him the best retirement. Maybe he will have some sort of cfl team consulting or scout advice job.

Never mind was looking at a recent flyer /sales mag & there was a massage padded fancy living room chair.
Ya it gets plugged in an electric outlet & ya get a massage / recliner & get this....there was the Toronto Maple Leaf name stamped on it.
Head coach for TO brings the Grey Cup to that city last year. This year his #1 QB gets injured plus he lost a lot of key players...& he got FIRED !!!! ( the other day ). It's not what ya did for me lately ; it's what are you doing for me today. ( like a loyal renter with rent on time for 30 years has some trouble & is late with $$$$. "You are evicted & leave by end of month." Life is brutal sometimes. Buono never got fired ( maybe he would have if he stayed one more year.....he knew it was time to leave on his terms or else.... )

That TD where the Lions stopped them on 3rd down but the RB fumbled on purpose ( as he knew he was stopped. ) thus his team mate recovered the ball for 6 pts...but it sure looked very close that the RB was down. Lulay was given lots of opportunity to get the Lions going & even started in the 3rd qtr ?????
Deep down the players just did want to try hard. Cold weather in Hamilton ( close to freezing ) ...if they won they would have to play in Ottawa & more cold & if winning that one ...in Edmonton for Grey Cup & ya know it will more than likely be freezing !!!
These Lions like the warm weather of Vancouver & if raining the roof gets closed!

He's friends with Angelo Mosca who is an ex Tigercat & pro wrestler. Seen Mosca wrestle Dutch Savage in Vancouver in the Gardens in an undercard. ( not main event but that billing could of been ) He later billed himself as King Kong Mosca & wrestled throughout Canada /USA & possibly even in Japan.
Now the Tigercats have to get humble & refocused because they need 2 more W's to be campions.
Ottawa will surely be ready for them.
Lulay maybe should of dyed his red hair black & try to sing some Elvis hits. Relax him a bit. He should of been pulled after the first half. Jennings moves better. & powerful arm. But he did not do any better really. By the time he was inserted he knew they were too far behind anyways.
Lions should of had Joe Kapp give a pre game speech to counter Flair & Mosca in the building.... ;D
Do not get Kapp & Mosca near each other....the last time that happened they had a physical fight. ( and they were seniors at the time...bad blood from the 60 's...infamous hit by Mosca on Fleming. )

A loss is bad enough but it's the way they lost. All the best Wally. Honestly thought they would of been higher in standings after 18 games. Lulay career must be nearly done. Maybe back up role for BC or some other team. This Lions loss makes the Leafs & Argos losses of the past look not too bad. ;D

Yep your right. Wally did not re-sign some players who were stars with the team. Maybe they asked for too much $$$ ?
Wally last game on Remembrance Day Nov. 11 .....48-8 ya he'll remember that game for sure.
Give him a chuckle maybe.

Hey if I were retiring from a loooooooong job I bet it would be tempting to not bust one's butt the last week of work. Maybe the players sensed Wally was more excited to retire than to get wins....who knows.
