If history has taught us anything about Sockeye runs in the Fraser, is that you should not get excited.

I don't think I'm being pessimistic, rather more of a realist than anything.

I haven’t seen the actual data released but I heard there predicting around 6-7 mill. Probably no rec opening at all considering these fish came from a 20 million fish run. I’m sure there will still be a few
Million sockeye allocated to other groups through 🙄

There will most likely be an opening this year. The run should be strong.

They are expecting it to be the worst adams cycle in 50 years at 6-7million fish. That said they are also expecting their to be commercial, recreational and FSC opportunities. The most optimistic figure the P50 level would be around 14 million fish.

The river probably won't open until sometime after August 1.

PSC usually has their first meeting at the end of the second week in July. The whonnock test fishery has already started.  The area 12 Seins usual start near the end of july.

This is the year with the strong run cycle every 4 years. Keep our fingers crossed. If they don't open sockeye, and with all the noises from DFO about spring, it may mean no opening for spring too. With coho fishing much harder than the glory years, we may be left with only the white spring and the lowly chum. Are you sure you want to pay for the salmon stamp for these two only? Lol.
