And it’s an interesting piece of B.C. history where the name came from.

from Port Moody it will most likely take you about 2 hours +/- to get there depending on water conditions. It's been decent today for both Chinooks and a coho's
-
I used to go from deep cove to thrasher in my 24 ft sea ray at 17 knots and 2hrs was normal.
-
It used to take us 2 1/2 hrs. from public launch at Port Moody at cruising speed in an 18 1/2' double eagle. Mind you that was in good weather. Had to stay overnight at silva bay once.

I like to trailer to sunset marina, then head out there, good area to drop the prawn traps around sunset marina befor heading fishing.

long time past, little less for me Celtic shipyard across from Iona Island , 1 1/2 flat water. Fly fishing bluebacks

It's just a hair over 60km from Reed Point to Thrasher Rock. 60km is an easy number to work out transit times.
30km/h = 2 hours
20km/h = 3 hours
15km/h = 4 hours
As a rough calculation, you can figure out NM by dividing by the kilometers by 2. 60km = ~30Nm.
20Nm/h = 1.5 hours
15/Nm/h = 2 hours
etc. etc. etc.
FYI, half of the distance from Port Moody to Thrasher is just getting out of Vancouver Harbour. If you can launch at Burrard Civic Marina, McDonald Beach or Steveston, you're going to save a bunch of time and fuel.

It's been a long time since I heard anyone mention Celtic. Too bad its been left to rot.

Was a joiner/shipwright there mid eighties after Burrard shut shop. Then my Shop was there for yrs .. when Celtic shut shop.. My home from home..
-
Make sure you have marine charts of the area as Thrasher has some hidden surprises nearby at high tide.
