Title: Coquihalla River
Post by: CohoMan on March 18, 2018, 02:10:21 PM
Asking for a friend about the Coquihalla river.

I tried checking the reg but it is a bit confusing. Is the river open for fishing? Especially for summer run.

I tried to parse those regs once and it took me four months to figure out.

Seriously though, first decide where you want to fish: below tunnels, at tunnels (always closed to fishing), or above tunnels. Then read the regs and it'll be easier to figure out.

Right now above tunnels is closed. At tunnels is always closed. Below tunnels is open until the end of the month, with a bait ban and a release on all trout/char. All of the above info assumes that I'm reading it right... not always a safe bet.

Check out the map on p. 23 of the regs and cross reference with Google Maps. Sometimes fishing feels a lot like homework.

the upper river above the tunnels opens July 1st - fly fishing only - that means no external weight - no drift fishing, no lures, no bait.  It's all catch and release. Closes Oct 31st.
