Leafs I believe will win one & lose one on average for 17/18 season.
Break even in blackjack but will miss the playoffs. It will take more than 40 or so wins to make the playoffs. TO coach just looks like his message is getting old & it will fall on deaf ears. Leafs players will tune him out. ( players fault not the coach. )
Vancouver should get near 50-55 wins thus making the playoffs, mainly because the coach will know how to light a fire under players butts.
Let's check at the end of the season & see how my predictions & forecasts pan out.
Give me another glass of red wine please.

Two more goals by Brock Boeser tonight.
You forgot to mention the score of course it was embarrassing as your boys lost 9 - 4. :P Time to leave the sinking ship, I will put in a good word for you as my assistant adviser. Would include some nice trips East too. ;D ;D

A - Boater will be drinking a lot of wine to drown his sorrow this year. ???

Chris; your counter punching is very good. Ouch.
Only time will tell who's team will be better.
In this corner the Toronto Maple Leafs & in the other opposite corner FA & Al's & the millions of fans  " THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS ! "
Red wine drinking will only take place after Canucks wins. Better stock up my supply.
Lots of victories ahead.
Canucks will get serious when the season starts.

An idea came to me.
Whenever the Vancouver Canucks win I will have a glass of my favourite red wine & now for the new idea. ( drum roll please ) whenever the Leafs lose, it will signal me to also have a glass of red wine  ;D
With all the projected Canuck wins & Leaf losses my wine inventory has to be doubled.
Leafs loss to Ottawa was scary.
Leafs did have good puck possession when they had a 2 man advantage.
But they just passed it around to each other & barely decided to shoot the puck ????
Ottawa did not have to kill the penalties as the Maple Leafs did it for them.
When a team has a two man advantage they have to put on the pressure to get 1-2 goals.
Score was 4-1 at the time. If they got at least one goal during the two man advantage it's 4-2 & now they would of had a chance. Passing the puck to each other for 45-60 secs without shooting?????
The fans are going to get grey hair fast. Just for Men hair dye sales may go up in the Toronto area.

Chris must be shell-shocked !
Tons of posts that are pro Canuck & anti Leaf.
Well after all this is the westcoast.
We Canuck fans are very upset with the no cups in 3 finals & are ready to attack anything that moves.
We will be a little bit more positive to words the Leafs after the Canucks are NHL champions.
When was the last time the Leafs were in the finals?
L o n g t i m e ago. Leaf fans must be as antsy as Canuck fans.
At least we in recent years got to be excited cheering our team in the finals! ( we were excited at the possibility ... & with 2-0 up in games against Boston we were really excited. )
Honestly the Leafs are going to be a no show this season. They looked like zombies out there the other night.
Hope they kept the brown paper bags handy because fans will don them over their heads after 20 games.
Ya just know Chris is hoping for a Leaf win & Canuck loss.
He then will surface like a submarine.  ;D
Chris has thick skin that's for sure.
His loyalty to the Leafs reminds me of a gambler saying he is having fun even though he lost 4 million dollars in 4 yrs.  ;D
( hope Leafs do not somehow luck out & win the Cup this year...we on this forum will have to congratulate Chris & the Leafs & or become Leafs fans ourselves "Lord forgive" )

Another day another defeat. The Cup aint' comin ;D
Another defeat.  ;D
Loss to Sens in Ottawa & another loss to Sens in City of TO.
(Wonder if Leafs are doing this on purpose thus to go full out & show their talented ways when the season starts? Because honestly how does a team play so poorly unless they are doing it on purpose?
If they are giving it their all then I have to correct my predictions...not 40 plus wins...down to 25 plus wins)

Chris is mighty quiet this week. Still recovering from A-BOATER'S wine ?? :)
With all the very poor Leaf showing I assume your right but the only correction is it's his wine & not mine.
With all the Leafs losses & Canucks wins my red wine is vanishing rather quickly.
The Canucks looked pumped in Calgary last night & got a W.
Called for a glass of wine. Night before that another Leaf loss thus that called for another glass.  ;D
Then somehow found a website Songs-Tube.net & Rockstar radio websites & there in lots of great performers & bands from yester year with included Elvis material so that called for more red wine.
Chris will surface soon as he awaits a TO win. He's like a submarine.
Gee it may take a while for a TO win. Hope the sub does not run out of oxygen.
Leafs do not play today but  team 1, Canucks in China do.
Chris if you read this please check out the above music websites. The good music & song will take your mind off the Leafs for a bit.
We all like Chris of course but not his team of choice.

In Canadian Tire in the clearance sales box was numerous items, one being a Toronto Maple Leaf auto license plate bracket/frame.
The original sales sticker gave the retail price & the 2nd sticker had the sales price...& finally a 3rd sticker with the clearance price.
Seems this product is very hard to sell.
Maybe next week it will be in the "take it for free" box.
( seems no one wants to let others know they are a Leaf fan when they stop at red lights )  ;D

Hunting for a goalie, a defenceman ?
;D
Chris is walking in nature / wilderness ( as he says "hunting" ) to calm his nerves.
He knows management can kick the can down the road only so long till there are just no more excuses for not getting the Cup or at the very least getting into the finals.
Leaf fans are so so hopeful this season as they believe the 1017/18 Leafs are going to have a great season.
Even one Leaf fan highiked from Quebec of all places to Winnipeg for their 1st game. ( 7 rides )
After the 7th ride which took him to the outskirts of the city he decided to call a taxi & the driver gave him a earful of the improved Winnipeg team.
It's like a horse race to the finish line & there will be only 1 winner.
1st winners are the play offs & the major winner is the Stanley Cup.
2 seasons really. The long haul to get a play off spot & the long haul to win the Cup.
After 20 games we fans will see the smiles or the frowns coming over the management, players, sports media, & we the $ paying fans. Sort the real teams from the hope so's ( Hope so's will be in SOS mode )
Will Chris have a frown or smile after 20 games?
Will FA & myself have frowns or smiles after 20 games.
Easy for the new coach for the Canucks.
If the Leafs win tonight or lose all coach Green has to say to his players " do or do not do what the Leafs did" .
Life is so simple.
Chris please stay in your motel room after the game.
( if he goes into the bar after the loss he may possibly start a riot  )

Oh Chris it was 39 F for last night's low here in Richmond.
What's that in C ?  3-4 C or something...
Yes your right it's hockey temps.
Mind you in finals it's 23-25 C Boo. Not hockey weather that's for sure.
Hockey season should be ended by mid April.
Get only 8 teams into play offs.

Came down from the Mountain today in time to watch the Leafs outclass the Jets 7 -2 who were as cool as it was in the mountains last night, - 10.

Was a good day on the hunt with as many grouse taken as goals scored tonight by both teams. I of course rented a room in Merritt to watch us begin our march to the Cup, the team looks so solid, better than I thought. By the way the grouse are far better for us to consume than some farmed chicken I would say, maybe as bad as farmed Salmon that Dave and that chap from Kamloops like to eat. ;D ;D ;D

FA will get an early start on his beer after tonight I am sure. :-\

Also I purchased a Pavel Bure Panther jersey today with his name on and number on it. I wonder what it would be worth as I purchased for only a few dollars. ;D ;D

Back home tomorrow to get ready for the Wild Salmon Caravan as we travel from Vancouver to Chase following the sockeye home, wonder how many we will see that made it this year.

Thank The Lord FA does not like red wine. ( do not have to give him any ...he may be thirsty after that big Leaf win. )
The Leafs took a page right out of M Ali Cassius Clay fight plan.  The Rope "a" Dope.
Leafs took 3-4 penalties on purpose so the Jets would get frustrated by the many failed scoring chances...only then to multiply the pressure on Mason the Winnipeg's goalie playing his 1st game on his new team.
Sure enough 3 goals in 5 minutes...another goal in the 2nd.
Had no more time to watch so via Chris's post it was a 7-2 final.
Did Mason play in the 3 rd period or did the coach put in the back up ?
If Mason played the whole game & let in 7 goals wow that is a terrible start for him.
Well the Leafs looked very good but what if the Jets scored early in the 1st on those many chances?
Jets just shot the puck but did not send in men to crowd the net?
Where was the screen & extra man to deflect or knock in rebounds ?
Bad day in the office for Jets & very good day for Leafs.
Leafs have a goalie now that reminded me of Brodeur in his prime for the New Jersey Devils.
(Leafs looked very good but can they keep it up?)

Canucks have only played two games in a week since the NHL season started.
3 of out 4 possible pts.
Wish our goalie did not try those diving belly flop save attempts. He's let in a goal like that in each game.
Luongo also had that flaw...dive forward belly flop save attempt.
Over all Markstrom has play decent.
( Toronto playing very well shhhhhhhh! Quiet. )
How about the Vegas Golden Knights.
& the goalie they got from Pens is playing great. He has won them some of the games. Stood on his head. Hope he can keep it up because Fleury can suddenly go cold & play really bad. Let in 4-5 goals.
Maybe Being on a new team he will stay energized & stay focused. ( knights & leaves shhhhh...quiet )

Leafs had a two man advantage you say & they allow a goal.
They must of caught the same virus the BC Lions caught a few weeks ago.
Have a feeling it's "light's out for the leaves" & it will be like 2 losses & 1 win average.

I'm killing the deal. Chris was not out chasing salmon;he was trying to trade the entire Toronto team for the Canucks. Yep ya heard it here. GM's coaches trainers players top to bottom were going to be swapped.

Sounds to me your having a great time in the great outdoors.
With all the rain in the last while the ground must be soaked well & creeks & river levels not low.
Getting back to hockey yesterday read that some of the experts in Vegas that are looking at the odds have picked the TO Maple Leafs to be favourites to win the 2017/18 Stanley Cup.
Of course FA other Canuck fans & I am not of the same opinion. The Canucks & their Cool Hand Luke head coach really seem to have a real developing poise about them.

You're right A-BOATER. Leaves won't win the Cup. Granted they are off to a hot start but they will flounder as they usually do. Remember the Canadiens last season ? Started on a 11 game unbeaten streak and look where it got them. Eliminated in the first round.
Title: Re: The Leaf Thread For 2017 - 18

Your right too FA  ;D
Leaves lost to the Ottawa tonight.
Lots of 2-1s against the leaves non D style.
6-3 could of been 8-3 easily.
The news from Las Vegas that recently picked the leaves to win the Cup must of either filled the players  heads with hot air or the leaves players are still in "shock" that they are somehow favoured to win Stanley.
Heard Chris is nearly in a coma when he heard his team is picked be the champions at the end of the year. ( honestly bet coaches GMs & Chris did not like the news as it just adds extra pressure to their team. )
As the leaves fall from the trees this time of yr so too the leaves are going to go into their slide...losing streak...pain of it all. ( unless leaves can prove us wrong )

"Submarine" Chris.
He only surfaces when the leaves get a W.
He ROARS like a lion.
That's why he will never be a head coach.
Wins he would speak to the press core.
In losses he would not answer any media's questions. He would go straight to the parking lot & drive home.
Offer is still there. If Chris runs out of red wine he can borrow a bottle & return two.

My heart felt "sorrys" to Chris in another loss & I know he sends his over welling congrats on another great Canuck win.  ;D
Young guys & new leaders are playing great & the twins are under less pressure to have to score goals.
New coach seems to make the dif.
Goaltending also much improved.
Miller is gone. Nice guy but up & down player.

We send our heart felt condolences to ya Chris. We feel for you. Know your broken hearted.
Leafs better watch tape of the Knights games to get refocused.
Honestly when the so called experts named the Leafs to be favourites to win the Stanley Cup it suddenly put a ton of extra pressure on the Toronto players.
They are in the mind set of improving but not in the mind set we have arrived.
Coaches should of come out immediately & responded with " oh that's nice to be picked to be the favourites but we believe we are just one of many teams that could win the Cup in this season. We are far away from dominating the league as there are many good teams.
Yes that would of taken the pressure off the Leafs.
Sadly the organization did not respond to my knowledge.
Oh yes we are so so good. Seemed to be the attitude.
Pride comes before a major fall.
Look at Chris's Leafs now.
Down down down.

Thanks but no thanks.
Choice of wearing Laugh paraphernalia in public with $ or get a weekly root canal ?
I'd go weekly to the dentist office  ;D
Heard Chris was going to be fired or already is.
Grapevine rumours is he is willing to be an assistant to the advisor.
( Rotten apple in the barrel if the leaves allow that. Personal opinion )
Possibly Chris has a few games to get the leaves back to winning or walk the plank.
Fans definitely shocked back to reality.
For awhile there they believed in the Vegas so called experts.

Yes FA the leaves may be hard pressed to make the playoffs.
As for tonight it was all Murphy's Law. Too many things went wrong.
LA Dodgers take forever to take out their starting pitcher. Hit hit hit 5-0 before ya know it.
Then the Canucks lose. Only 1 pt earned in two games.
& the leaves get a big win. Boo!
Ducks are a talented team too & a home game.
Leaves players must feel fine after all the recent losses.

Unreal how Sports Illustrated mag 3 yrs ago guessed right. Astros would be champs &  Springer the MVP. What are the odds of that happening?
Babcock has gone on record that Vegas picking the leaves to win Stanley is all fluff.
In other words he is saying  "words are cheap...actions tell the story "
He knows a lot of good teams in the NHL are contenders. He just wants his team to be one of that has a shot.
Leaves lose tonight 5-3 but no rest for TO as they played their hearts out the night before.
They kept the game close though.
Toronto has a winning record this season  ( more Ws than Ls ) so let's see if they can keep it going.

Hope everything is ok with you Chris. As for FA Novabonker etc & myself we like you & when we put down ( some of us ) the Leafs it's all in fun. Hope you do not take it personal.
The truth is the Leafs & Canucks organizations are really putting out an effort to be a great team.
In football there is a penalty called "piling on" & hopefully when FA & myself post our teasing or put downs on the Leafs we do so not with a mean way but only in fun.
Not trying to pressure you to post as this message is just to say you are liked & respected & I (we) hope all is ok with you!  :)
Tell ya one thing I respect the Leafs 1,000,0000 x more than the White Caps soccer team. Decided to watch their game against Seattle & they needed to win or else their season is over.
They were losing 1-0 & they just still played defense till the end???? with 10 minutes to go in the match.
They should of brought our their men up field & try to get the equalizer.
Crazy.
The Leafs & Canucks are smart enough if losing by a goal & near end of the game would of taken out their goalie to get the extra man on the ice.

End of the night & the Canucks get the win in Calgary. 5-3.
This game could of gone either way but give the Canucks credit as they are battling.
Remember the Canucks a few years ago. They were giving up many 2-1 ones 3-2s odd man rushes 5-6x a game. Teams now have to work hard to get any goals against them as the Canucks team are in position.
Good line changes & transition hockey.
New coach system & good team chemistry & FA good advisor skills! FA good job. You deserve a raise in pay / not Chris. Chris should be demoted to the minors.

Speculation is Novabonker gave him a phone call & demanded he stopped his fishing/hunting vacation & get back to work or else. After the call Chris was back to work. Alittle red faced I bet.

Leafs get a 4-2 win. Empty net to make it 4.
Min. nearly tied the game on 4 scoring chances at least with the extra man.
Bet Leaf fans blood pressure was quite high.
Heard thru the grapevine that Chris told the Leafs during the second intermission that the Leafs must get a goal in the 3rd & get ahead by two goals.
Leafs did just that & scored to make it 3-1.
Chris told the players Min. will score in the third because of a rally or push.
That goal he predicted would make it 2-2 & with momentum it then would be in Min. favour.
So it all panned out exactly the way Chris predicted it would.
Even better as as with the empty net goal it was 4-2.
Very good advice & great Maple Leaf win.
( not was good as the Canuck win yesterday nevertheless a start. That's 2 Leaf wins in a row )

Maple win back to back games against Boston. 4th win in a row...very impressive.
Congrads to Chris & the Maple Leaf organization.

The Canucks on the other hand lose 5-0.
This on the surface looks very bad.
Let's take a closer yes CLOSER LOOK.
The Sharks have players making millions & millions of dollars per year. Yes.
The Sharks have blood thirsty screaming cheering fans routing for them. Yes.
The poor Canucks have the fans yelling & booing at their every play. Yes.
The ref called penalties against the Canucks that on replay showed that the infraction did not occur. Yes.
Hooking when it was a simple stick check on the puck. Yes.
Penalty shot called when the replay showed the Shark player shot the puck before the Canuck reached in with his stick. Yes.
Canucks took out their goalie & this allowed the Sharks to score extra goals & increase the score. Yes.
Looking at the game CLOSER with what was mentioned above only allows one conclusion.
Any other NHL team including the Maple Leafs would of lost by the score 10-0 & the the Canucks only lost by the score 5-0.
Yes the Leafs were very impressive but the Canucks were very very very very very impressive tonight !
What a great team BC Canada has.  :) Yes.

FA that was great advice you gave the Canucks. Told the players to let LA score two quick goals in the. 1st period & then for them to kick it into D & offence mode.
Canucks were up to the challenge.
What a great advisor & team we have.
Kinda like Ali only using one arm in a fight when boxing an inferior opponent.
Canucks are so much better than LA Kings as Canucks are up & up & Kings down & down.
We spotted them 2 goals to make the game interesting.
Leafs are growing lots of rust. Players are sitting in their Lazy Boy recliners. By the time they play next they will have put on 5-10 lbs. ( beer. )  ;D
Leafs better be ready for Dec 2 2017.
Dun dun da dun dun da dun dun da dun.

Congrads to Chris & the Leafs for their big 1-0 OT win !
What the Leafs can do so too the Canucks can do.
Canucks are so much better than the expansion team Golden Knights, orders from above was to spot them 2 goals, just to make the game more interesting.
Canucks are now in the D & offence mode.
2nd period.

Edit in : game over 5-2 Vegas W.
White Caps are a joke. Zero offence in 2 play off games against Seattle.
BC Lions miss play offs
Vancouver Canucks lose to an expansion team  :o
Caps have no heart.
Lions need new coaches
Canucks need new players in a new design uniform.
Those dark blue with a terrible crest are too depressing.
Teal color with orange trims & a big V C crest dark red.
Boo !
Vegas looked so good on their skates & physical. Took shots from the slot area...
Vegas also had their  5th stringer goalie in the net. Canucks had their #1 goalie between the pipes.
Guess Vancouver should dismantle & leave the league.
Get another franchise in two yrs & get their players in a draft from every NHL team.
Back to the drawing board.

Another lose for Vancouver this time, against the Gamblers.
I would not Gamble on a bet the VC will make the playoffs, poor FA, so sad, he must have trouble getting up these days, should take him fishing and give him some much needed advise. ;D ;D ;D

Leafs have been doing very well without Matthews in the last four games (is it?) maybe it's prove the Leafs do better without this ace. Maybe more trouble in the dressing room.
Think that's why Chris has been quiet lately even with the Leafs wins  ;D
FA was quiet till today but we know why. Canucks lacklustre efforts.
Word is been given: no more spotting the other team 2 goals.
Canucks have their pants half down & do not have the skill or effort to pull them back up.
Nothing that a Leaf loss & Canuck impressive victory tonight will not solve !!!!
EDIT IN: well 6-0 for Leafs & game is still going on.
Canucks better win or else western NHL fans may have a toss & turn bad sleep.
Did you see those Leaf fans in the building?
Rough game between the players may continue with Leaf fans in attendance being out numbered by Hab fans. Kinda like gang members being on another gang's turf.
Go Canucks Go !

Your under oath FA
Are you saying I have had too much wine or you are saying you have been drinking too much wine?
 ;)
Good game going on.
Blues seem to be a bit more physical & making nice play making nice passing plays.
Canucks though are playing hard & not giving the Blues much open ice as they are checking well & countering. Trying to use their speed.
At least the Canucks look alive in this one...Canucks just scored !! 2-1

Congrads to Chris & Leafs on their big big win in Hab land.
Gotta give credit where credit is due.
( mind you he advised the Leafs to play like the 1970s Flyers. Habs were forced to retaliate.)  ::)

Congrads to the Canucks as they really fought hard. Effort.
At least they got a pt.
Blues are a good team. Wear ya down. Fast physical big guys & offensive talent.
They shoot from the slot a lot & shots from there have a good % to find the back of the net.
Fans deserve effort & the Canucks gave them that.
Add in: going to have a 2nd glass of France red wine.
After a post by FA decided to have a bit. Power of suggestion.
Now will someone suggest to the  Canucks to win the Stanley Cup or in Nov to beat the Leafs by the score 10-0  ;D

Canucks grounded the Flyers 5-2 tonight. Nice way to open a road trip.
Win #1 after a loss against the Blues ( see what the Blues did against the Oilers. Blues are for real )
If Canucks win tonight against Pens that will be win #2 thus it's a streak !
Win tonight the Canucks are a "walking" if they lose they are back to "crawl" mode.
Want to see a 4-5 game win streak to 2 loss average ratio then they will be a "flying" in "run" mode.
Knowing this wise coach Travis Green & you know who wise advisor of the Canucks they may be planning to limp into the playoffs to be under everyone's radar & expectations but the facts are they conserve lots of energy & less injuries thus at playoff time they can bump ...( better edit in a p next to the m ..bum it up ? does not make sense..type too fast or spell checker changed word  :o ) ...it up a notch or two & make a run for the Stanley C.  ;D
Pens will be a big test. Did not the Canucks beat them in Vancouver?

Chris's Leafs a loss via the SO.

Busy with the benefit concert for the fish farm occupiers, Fraser Valley Salmon Society used tackle sale, preparing for a meeting tomorrow with government agencies re gravel extractions on the Vedder River a year ago. They cancelled the meeting about 5 times hoping we would go away. Of course keeping the PAP gang in line.

Also picked up 1,000 cups for 5 days last week in a campaign and hoping to start a trend like this in Chilliwack. https://globalnews.ca/news/3881319/vancouver-single-use-items-garbage-problem/

Great clean win for the boys.
TO won because an Oiler D man put the puck in his own net.
Oiler D guys are noted for that. Remember their D man years ago passes the puck but the puck hit his own goalie's pad & bounced into the Oiler net.
Unclean W by the Leafs. If the Leafs had any honour they would of not accepted that cheesy goal & ask the ref to drop the puck at centre ice & continue play.  ::)
Leafs will experience Canuck mania soon.
The Leafs vs Canucks will have Grey Cup / Stanley Cup pressure even though it's just a reg. season game.  8) look out. Playing for keeps. Bragging rights.

Know what ever team loses the game the slaves ( Leaf fans ) or us pampered loyal royal Canuck fans will be going to the laundry mat to wash out our under wears. ( Mrs will not allow the soiled undies go into home machine.)
Hope Leaf fans watching at the rink brought some pampers.
Nova asks for: Predictions: well 4-2 Canucks sounds good to me.
Gotta get some French red wine & have at least 2 glasses to celebrate.
Should custom order a cap with " Canucks defeat Leafs " Dec 2 / 17.
( in honestly hope it's a great clean game & win...Leafs are noted to take 2 pts or a pt anyway they can get them ...head shaker shame. Unclean victories. )
Certain Leaf fan(s) may be submarined for a long time..we will see....
Have a great time at the game guys.
I'll be watching religiously at 4pm via boob tube.
Grey Cup / Stanley Cup pressure in this game.
Twins should play good as they like the earlier games.
They get sleepy if the game is played at 7-10 pm ...bed time is early for these guys.
4-2 Canucks 4-2 Canucks 4-2 Canucks...Canucks up up & away ! Leafs down down down...
After Canucks great victory maybe Vegas will make a red alert announcement : we now predict the Canucks will win the 17/18 Cup.

Gotta say that it was a well played game by both teams. Markstrom had to play at a top level throughout or else ...Leafs could of filled the net with pucks.
Leafs also had open nets but they shot wide or missed the puck. Thank The Lord for that.

What a game! Markstrom stood on his head, Stetcher showed the grit that got him the gig in the first place. The pregame presentation for Daniel Sedin was as classy as it gets and having Derek Dorsett present the silver puck was just icing on the cake. I figured out that Chris was in Leaf Land, offering advice to team that they obviously didn't take or they might have done a bit better

We Canuck fans had better be alert. There just may be a push to name the team to the Vancouver Maple Leafs.
Ya FA I bet Chris will take this loss very hard. He really should not because our goalie stopped the score from being 5-3 for the Leafs.
Hot goalie really frustrates the team that got more shots & scoring chances.

You have a good team. A very good team.

Game kinda reminder me of the movie "The Perfect Storm".
Canucks made it to port. Leafs did not.
It had that Grey Cup/Stanley Cup pressure build up & the game did not disappoint.
Janitor rink staff rumoured that there were soiled pampers in the garbage cans.
From Leaf or Canuck fans ? Looked like 1/2 the crowd had a Leaf Jersey on.
More fans to share the loss. Less pain when it spread to so many.  ;D
Leaf player gets the puck & shoots wide. ( why because the Canucks D was checking so well & in position the Leaf players knew they had no time to set up...so they rushed their shot attempt. Other times the Leaf player missed the pass because of the same reason )

Canucks from their forwards defence & goalie played a near perfect game. Markstrom played 5 STARS.
Next day Sunday for some reason got into the Christmas season frame of mind  ;D
Hope the Leaf / Calgary game is on the boob tube.
See if the Leafs pot in 4-5 goals this time. Smith the Flames goalie is a so so stopper in my books.

Infact with the table top hockey game the Canucks beat the Leafs everyday.

Congrads to Leafs ( & to Chris .... maybe he's cracking a little smile after tonight ).  :)

Hope Horvat does not become injury prone as Bure became with his knee.
Knee problem then Bure rebilited only to have his skate go into a crack in the ice & twist the knee (re injure & basically take him out of hockey too early in his career like Bobby Orr. )
Imagine a puck hit him in the ankle? Or skated too hard & hurt it ?
As FA stated 6 wks or another tv report said week to week..whatever that means.
Hope he heals 100% as nothing worse skating in pain.
Canucks lose to the Flyers. Bump in the road. ( maybe by design as a team does not want too many wins as it adds extra pressure. Like the Stampers winning nearly all their games only to lose in the big one ) Canucks goal is to make the playoffs & then turn up the "heat" 16 wins = Cup.

EDIT IN this update : just heard on the tv news that Seattle may be in the NHL in 2020/21 season.
That's good as the Canucks will play there & thus less air miles in total. Seattle very close.

Leafs's back up goalie gets a shut out ( stopped over 40 shots. ) Leafs potting in the goals & their tandem goalie pair keeping out the puck from their net. Oilers had a long 2 man advantage & zippo.
Leafs are playing like winners. Winning & talented minus the fat head. They are truly at the moment the go go team !
Give the Canuck player(s ) good press & sadly they get drunk & starry eyed for a few weeks cloud 9.
Matthews is a great example of being level headed & cool. He plays great every game.

Well if Chris has cold feet to cheer on the Leafs on this public forum so decided to be non bias & be the one to mention something positive on the leaves oops I meant to say Leafs.
Then let the Leaf haters respond  ;D
Mind you & nevertheless my Christmas wish is the Canucks play more aggressive to get wins & get on a roll.
They are good very good at times but then they kinda slack off & go into a cool down mode.
Canucks when they decide to play good they can dominate a team for the entire game.
If Chris decides to start posting on his Leafs then I'll just get back to only cheering on the Canucks. Chris is the true fan but I am just calling what I see. Strike ...ball....
But at the moment the Leafs are going up up up the Canucks down down down....( maybe the Canucks should use more backhand shots like the old day hockey players did. Flames scored 2 goals from the backhand )

Leafs get a big win. Auston Matthews gets a goal in Arizona. Is this his home state? Think so.
Patrick Marleau gets goals / assit.
Coyotes put up a Johnny Bower picture on the screen which was a class act.
7 goals.
Canucks get 5 goals. They played super.
Travis Green took his gloves off & blasted the players so it sure looks like his players heard his message. 5-2 over the Blackhawks.
Canucks Gagne Boeser Vanek line surely played super.
Beautiful non look back passes & bang it's in.
Canucks literally bottled up Chicago via defense & went on the offence. Steady for 60 minutes. Defense/offence /good goaltending.

Maple Leafs vs Vegas the expansion team.
After the 1st period it's 3-0 for the Knights.
Wonder if Chris gave his team lousy advise.
Maybe it's not his fault as he must of told his guys to go to bed early & have a glass of orange juice.
The players gave the signal & sneaked out of their rooms & enjoyed the bright lights of Vegas.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas but if this keeps up at this rate the game will end 9-0 zippo.
Maybe Leafs will wave the white flag with 10 minutes to go in the 3rd period & leave the ice.
Then it should be only 7-0 by then.  ;D
Canucks look very good last night compared to the Leafs so far.
Hey never know what will happen in this game. Matthews & gang may wake up & get the W.
Lots of time left.

6-3 final nope TO did not score 6 unanswered goals.
Tale of the tape.
Vegas came out with a flurry at the opening bell.
Toronto mustered a comeback & made a contest out of it but Vegas countered & thus got the big W.
So...Canucks scored 3 goals yesterday & so did TO today. So WT heck what can we say ? Both teams tried but got no cigar.
Leafs do play great at home & fairly good on the road.
Canucks play better on the road & most times stink out the building in Vancouver.
Happy New Year to all on this FWR site!
Including submarine Chris. ( or should put it: Happy New Year to all Canuck & Leaf fans )
Are the Canucks playing Toronto on my birthday...Jan. 6 /18 ? If so...you know what I want as gift on my special day  ;D ;D ;D
If Leafs best the Canucks on my birthday it will really be a downer.  >:( but a WIN ...it will feel like Christmas New Year's  & a Birthday all rolled in one! Celebrate.

Tomorrow is Jan 6. & it's my birthday.  63yrs old going on 45 mentally. ( some may think 13 ..hey why you think dat .... )  Talk about a set up against myself   :o
Canucks are in the Leaf house. Why does this game have to land on my birthday ( nervous)
There's a big possibility that the Leafs will spoil my party & day.
You just know the Leaf players ,coach & their fans remember that they were robbed in the December game in the City of Vancouver.
They will want pay back with not only a W but they will want to score 5-8 goals in the process.
But somehow if the Canucks can dodge the bullet 2x in a row my emotions & body will not feel aged at all but rather feel even younger & bounce in my steps.
Should Leafs get the W definitely will feel 70 & like ball & chain. Either way at least 1/2 bottle of France Red Wine will be downed. A win & I'll drink it in white collar style if loss blue collar style right from the bottle. No glass needed.
Dun dun da dun dun da dun dun da dun.....this game will feel like a play off game.
Wish the best to the Leafs... Shake my hand. ( oh wait till my other hand hoes behind my back with fingers crossed ) Bannon puts out his expose book on Trump then he says the next day " Trump is a great man "
Kidding aside think the Leafs are much a better team than the Canucks at this point in time.
In other words: my 63 birthday will be a dud. Bad news.
Taking me forever to type this as it's Canada vs Sweden. Posts hit by both teams.
Both teams playing good but Sweden looks to have an edge in chances.

Yep about 2 hrs to go & it's my birthday.
After reading you guys ( FA & Nova ) responses about the Canucks beating the Leafs tomorrow I feel a lot better now.
In fact I better change my opionion. From Leafs will more than likely beat the Canucks to: The leafs have zero chance to win  ;D
( well...even a tie after reg. time will do...means a pt in the standings. Maybe the pt that allows them to enter the playoffs )

Go Canucks Go Go Canucks Go Leafs down down down Canucks up up & away ! With a big S on their jersey. Super Canucks!
EDIT IN:thanks for the Birthday greetings :) closer to heaven every year.
Last year said I should lose a few lbs. this year let's see ...what what what Oh ya ...got lose a few more lbs ( even more than last yr.  >:(
Who can I blame for that. Not me surely.

No score. Oh no "injury." Puck in the face is it?  Stan the steamer & Trevor up in the box.
The war has started.
Will I get my birthday gift or will the Leafs destroy my special day in more ways than one.
FA Nova & me & other fans know your cheer on the Canucks !!! Go Canucks Go Go Canucks Go..

Submarine Chris must have his periscope up looking in on this game. :)

Happy birthday AB
Thank you ! & to all for the greetings/best wishes on my birthday.
Well I was hoping for at least a point in this game & the Canucks did get it.
Honestly I hoped to watch this game closely & concentrate but too many distractions.
Meal, conversation, plus a phone call from across the ocean so had to go to a quiet room & talk.
That was during the 3rd period when that call came. It was 2-0. When I returned to the game a Leaf just scored. So I thought it must be 2-1 Canucks.
WHAT !!!!! The score turned out to be 2-2.
Yep Maple Leafs scored 2 times when I was on the phone  >:

Thought the Canucks had good energy & Maple Leafs looked kinda sluggish in the 1st & 2nd period.
But when a team has it 2-0 in the 3rd & the way the game was going thought the Canucks had this game in the bag. Going to have to watch the highlights to see those 2 Leaf goals.
( gee what a time to get a phone call from over seas )
Congrads to the Leafs & all Leaf fans ( Chris )
Honestly happy with the point but not happy that I missed at least 1/2 this game via distractions.
Now on with the show...no red wine yet.
EDIT IN: Chris & FA you guys posted while I was creating my post.
As mentioned Chris congrads on the win !
FA thanks for greetings !
Hey seeing Chris & FA make your views known & other guys Nova & Noah's Ark make my night extra special.

Happy Birthday A-BOATER. Many happy returns. The upside is that the Canucks picked up a point. Pour yourself another glass of wine and enjoy.
The day after & letting the dust settle down FA makes some hood points. Let's not give the Leafs any credit  :)
Actually re watched the game in the am when I could concentrate. Just had to talk to too many people here & mostly on the phone.
Thought both teams played a very clean fought & good energy game. Both teams had good chances ,both goalies made good saves, but Markstrom does gives up juicy rebounds which does lead to trouble.
Canucks had chances to make it 3-0 near break away & shot from the slot, plus in OT a shot hit the post & crossbar ( or crossbar & post )
Actually it was a game that both teams could of won in regulation time. Thought TO would really dominate this game but the Canucks were rested & they skated hard,so Leafs played it smart & played the same style, good position hockey checking & trying to score.
Great game.
Leaf fans should be proud of their team. Hopefully the Canucks don't get lazy but keep playing hard.
Coaches need the team to know that they are the jockey & the players the horse.
If the horse runs hard the jockey does not need to hit the horse on the rump with the stick.

God is merciful & forgiving...full of grace.
But what happened here after they were ahead 2-0...is just plain unforgivable  :)
Coach is going to be giving his team the ABCs during practise...we must learn from this( sports report )
Players more than likely will think ...that's hockey. They kept pressing & the puck went into the net.  (3x) water under the bridge the players think thus they are focusing on the next game.

A chance that a person wins when the marble is thrown in that turning wheel gambling game.
Slim chance in that game.
Wow great come back by the Canucks 2 pts.
Some Canucks play with heart day in & out. Reminds me of Cliff Ronning or Stan the Steamer or Andre Boudria Super Pest or Pavel Bure the Russian Rocket.
Canucks to win Stanley Cup is more of Blackjack odds. Better % than Leafs marble wheel game odds
Rollet game or whatever it is.    8)

That's the way Markstrom needs to play. He was more than acceptable. The Stars looked tired at the end, but 2 wins in a row is 2 wins in a row. It also helped that they did some serious checking instead of some serious getting out of the way. I'd like to see Biega get some more time on the ice because he plays with a bit of an edge and that's something that's been missing from the team for a few years.Liistened to a story about Toronto needing defensemen today and there was a pic of a Canucks jersey...... Gudbranson and Spicolli,um, Ericcson  ;D. Seriously, somebody needs to tell Ericcson that his haircut looks like he styles it with an upright vacuum cleaner and a corn broom. You'd think at 6 million a year he might be able to spend a little at a barber shop.

FA did you notice when Chris posts on his Leafs on this site they get more wins.
But on the other hand since he has slowed his comments the Leafs have been in tail spin.
Tail spin = down down down...
And continuing on that idea as we Canuck supporters post our views here, the team has showed much much improvement.
Keep those posts flowing so the Canucks will get more W's
As the posts go, so does the team A) Leafs B) Canucks.
Oddly these are the only two teams that are affected by posts to this site. More posts more wins less posts less wins....
Simple as that. And it's totally scientific proven & logical ( BS ) theory.

Maybe the Leafs & Chris are playing rope-A-dope. That trick Ali did to Foreman.
Ali let Foreman pound him on the ropes for a few rounds & George tired. Then Ali knocked him out or TKO.  Leafs are losing a few games on purpose & as such other teams will take them lightly...then watch out. I always say advisors always have many tricks & feed crocs raw chicken with a long stick.

Heard thru the grapevine Toronto was to use the rope a dope against Ottawa but Leafs won the game regardless. Ottawa goalie must of let in shots that should of been stopped.
Now all NHL teams are refocused they must be ready & play hard to defeat TO.
Vancouver Canucks should get told in the dressing room..."Boys go out there & have fun playing the game. Win or lose it's ok"
With no expectations & zero pressure to win the game they maybe would of beat the Oilers 10-4.

But are the Canucks playing with heart & effort in every game?
Maybe Maple Leafs have a better jockey ( coach. ) than our jockey ( coach ) ???
Oh no another Florida team playing the Canucks on Valentine's Day. Maybe do not bring your date to the Vancouver rink. Might spoil the date with a loss. Take the chance on the Canucks (???)
Luongo looks like he's not aged one bit. Less stress playing in Florida than in Vancouver. The poor guy had to stop 2-3 breakaways in a period. 40-45 shots a game when he was a Canuck.
Been so busy lately but will try to pop in here more often.

Leafs are winning a lot of games that maybe they should not of. Their stopper has the attitude: the puck stops here. Goalie is the last line of the D.
& the Canucks??? They do not have a good back up. Markstrom does not play well being in too many games. He should play two games & then have a good backup go in for the third game.
Markstrom just cannot handle the stress of being #1 position. He needs that break after two games it seems.
Teams that go far into the play offs always have an above average goalie.
Oh ya Leafs win.
Canucks lose to Panthers.
Win one lose three. Wow what a flop.
Maybe the Canucks should advertise in the classified section of the Sun newspaper.
Any good goalies or players out there? Apply with resume to Vancouver Canucks.
Valentine dates went south quick. Guys should of brought their date to a late night dentist & have a root canal. Boo ! Boo ! Boo !

That sure is not the whole story.
Canucks leading 4-1 ...lose 5-4.
Avs scored on 90% on the power play. Unreal !
Our backup goalie honestly is the pits.
Get Bachman in there next game. Markstrom is injured.
Bachman plays the angles  & you can sense he concentrates well. He had good reflexes. Wish they would give him a 5 game try. If he does well, let him be the #1 or in the lest have a 50/50 workload with Markstrom. Canuck fans are satisfied with baby food because they are the pits. Players do not have chemistry.

Canucks are out of it in more ways than 1. Out of playoffs & only give effort in 1/4 games. 3 games they just try to make it look good. Possum. Gee they even spray water on their face from the water bottle. Fans will think it's sweat. Sneaky ah !  :o

mojoman yes I believe your right. Good points. You challenged my ideas & ya know your right.
FA & Chris never will change their opinions even if they are wrong!!!!
They are bull headed stubborn as h_ _ _. That's why they hardly post anymore. They battled each other so viciously like two big bulls that they wore themselves out. Now they are like ostriches with heads in sand.  ;D ;D ;D ( ::) )
Twins & gang were just one win away from the Stanley Cup in game 7 in Vancouver. Plus were up 2 games to zippo.
Three things that changed the series were Barrows is that his name? Traded to Ottawa Sens. In game two he was accused of biting a Boston player 's finger. Alex denied it. That gave the Bruins a reason to get rough house & play extra physical ( chip on their shoulder ) & the Canucks had no answer. In Boston  Sedin was punched in the face 4-5 times with a glove before the face off & the ref called No  Penalty!!!!!!
Plus Luongo stopped the puck & was laying on the crease area. A Bruin with his skates & stick pushed Luongo into the net with the puck. Ref counted it a goal !!!!!!
Canucks needed to give tic for tak. Bruins got physical with hits & stick work  & Canucks should of nailed the bruin player in the boards if the opportunity presented itself. When sticked give it back.
NHL refs were so one sided in some games. Unreal.

Abs, I couldn't agree more with that post if I wrote it myself. The refs were disgustingly biased and lost any form or semblance of fair play or enforcement of the basic rules. It looked like they hired the refs from WWE. They were quite simply jobbed. I remember working downtown on the day of game 7 and you could just feel the undercurrent of trouble brewing.Mayor McSmoothie inviting the herds to come on down was just icing on the cake. But it was one heck of a roller coaster ride.

mojoman yes I believe your right.

Leafs are in the same boat...Polack and Martin are the only sandpaper...it'll be tough for the Buds...

At 8pm tonight ( minutes away ) a SportsNet on the boob tube is having a Stanley Cup Playoffs rewind.
May 13 / 2013 Leafs leading 4-1 in the 3rd period looked like they would win the series 4 games to 3.
But......guess this shocking event will have the Leafs in 2018 to play a full 60 minute game.
Painful to watch for Leafs fans but it may be a good lesson to learn thus help them out in this present time.
Edit: the tv info says it's the Leafs/Boston 2013 but it's the Oilers vs Jets many moons ago. My guess 89 or 1990 ?????

Leaves got smoked again by Boston. Anderson surrendered 3 goals on his first 5 shots. No wonder the Leaf advisor is noticeable by his silence. ;)

That will explain why Chris is sprouting a beard. He may want to go into the Witness Protection Program when the Leafs are eliminated. ;D

I see FA is in his play off form of knocking the Leafs. Ouch.
Well there may be a light in the darkness as the Leafs next games are at home.
Coach says that the Leafs have to relax more & not be so up tight.
Pres. GM & coach look anything but relaxed looking at their faces whenever the camera focuses on them.
What was that in game 1 ?  cupcakes stirrer Boston player putting his face right up to Leafs neck area???????
Some Leaf guys said that it was hard to watch !!!!
On other games ...Knights vs Kings Super played games. Kings are physical but Knights just play their fast game the entire way. They are not fearful of the Kings.  Quick has played great & near flawless goaltending. If he played average Vegas would have 5-6 goals per game & score one sided.
Tonight game is in LA. Should be a great game. Vegas goalie playing very well but looks shaky at times in stopping the puck. He makes the first save so his defense has been clearing the puck out of harms way.
Actually FA has mentioned how Chris has not supported his Leafs on this tread & maybe just maybe the Leafs have got wind of this fact & they feel the affects. Our advisor has nothing good to say about us Leafs. He no longer believes in us. A win just may get the wind back in their leaf sails.

The music the twins swaying to the beat ...gotta love it !
Leafs better be better in game 3 & 4 or else they will be playing golf with the twins.  ;D
LA tonight threw everything including the kitchen sink at Vegas but the Knights just keep playing hard.
LA seemed to get winded in the 3rd & knights scored 3 goals & got ahead 3-1. Then 3-2 in the late stages & time ran out. 3 games for Knights & zero got LA Kings.
Finally Quick let in 3 goals.
In the past I was not a fan of Fleury the goalie. With the Pens he would have many melt downs.
But with the Knights he is like radar making the first saves & his D is clearing away the rebounds.
Knights have 99% N American hard nose players & one European I believe.
Canucks & Leafs get some hard nose Canadian hockey players who play a 60 minute buzz saw game.
99% Canadian roster.

Leafs win !!! Toronto got their star players to change the tide in this one. From their forwards to goalie who made super stops. Boston out shot the Leafs. Leafs skated hard.
Now it's a series. Ducks are not doing so well against the Sharks.
Tomorrow Knights will try to sweep LA. Should be another great game. Hope Vegas up 3-0 in the series does not let up. Sometimes when teams are leading 3 games to zippo the 4 th game they come out with a poor effort. & then it 's 3-1 in games. Kinds like a team goes flat in the 4th game.
Even if LA wins make them work for the W.
Jets & Wild tomorrow as well. Honestly I'm cheering on Vegas because these guys play great hockey.
They just work so so hard & they take & give out hits.
They play skilled  & clean hard nose hockey. If a team gets physical against them they return it.
