Fished the afternoon high tide. Not a soul fishing. Guess the non-retention rule has discouraged some anglers from going out. ;) No sign of pinks. Heard a huge splash on my right as I retrieving my lure. Too big to be a pink. Could be a chinook or chum but likely a sturgeon. Water clarity excellent; 18 inches.

Last sunday was dead at the Mouth of the Fraser the week before it was really good fishing. Given the decline in the Whonnock test fishery I'd say that the good pink fishing is done for the Tidal Fraser at least below Langley.
Move onto Chum,Chinook and Coho

Fraser near Coquitlam river mouth was dead this evening..no signs of fish and no one catching.

Fished this morning first light at various locations in the valley. Saw about 10 salmon surface (jump porpoise or fin). 3 seals. No bites.

Might have been a large Bull Trout but likely a Beaver. ::)

Fished high slack and the outgoing tide this afternoon. Saw 3 fish surfaced. Had 1 strike. Once again, very few people out.

Fished the upcoming tide on my lunch break and it was all dead. DFO surveillance plane flew over at one time to break the silence :)

Same for me. I fished close to peak tide Thursday and yesterday - nothing at all and no fish rising. I did see a guy catch a pink yesterday so I guess there must be some in there but in very low numbers compared to anything I have seen on previous seasons.
Water clarity is very good though so that would increase the odds somewhat I think.

Fished Glen valley this morning. Fewer fish showed compared to yesterday. Did manage to land and release two nice female pinks.

I wonder if there is a formula for spool size and distance to lowest guide and guide eye size. Eye bet there is an optimal ratio but it may vary with line type n gauge...

Pattullo/Port Mann area for an hour this afternoon. Saw only one riser, otherwise quiet.

There are a couple rules of thought. Common is KR by Fuji.

I use around 21" with a high frame size 20 guide for 8lb test on a 2500 size reel.
