Highway Pool again? There was a similar rescue there not too long ago when 5 people were trapped in the same spot.

water comes up fast in the Cap with little to no warning I am surprised there are not more people stranded on that island considering the amount of people that fish that spot.

Bonehead, probably had no waders on either to get across that small channel.  Thanks to the responders but I hope they presented the fisherman with a bill

Happens every year during salmon season. Be cognizant of your surroundings.

Why is the fisherman to blame? The water was low when he got there and most likely did not expect the water to rise so fast. If we are trying to blame someone point your fingers at the dam because they dont give out a warning when they let water out....

Very few professional and volunteer rescue services will ever charge people for rescue. Although North Shore Rescue did not participate in this rescue, nonetheless they have the best explanation and reasoning for not charging:

Wasn't it raining heavily yesterday in North Van? Pretty sure all the water comes over the top of the spillway as the lake rises during heavy rains. The only water they can "let out" is through the minimum flow for fish outlet which is only 20cfs.

They don't open the flood gates all at once, usually in 1-1.5ft increments.  Look at the Capcam data from yesterday.  Beware of your surroundings.  People need to take responsibility for their choices to be in situations that can be unsafe
