Fly high above Lake Iliamna in Alaska following the crew of the Alaska Salmon Program as they conduct sockeye salmon surveys during one of the largest salmon returns in years.

Pretty neat.

Awesome footage. Love the little potholes filled with fish. A grizzly bear mecca.
Not sure why they felt they needed to walk through the redds at one point though.

The thing that strikes me as the most impressive sight in this spectacular video is the complete and total lack of impact on the landscape by humanity. No roads, cutblocks, no mines, no dams ...... wilderness. We still have areas like that in BC but they are becoming fewer over time. Not hard to imagine the Fraser River and it's tributaries looking like this back in the era when there were estimated escapements of 50 million sockeye ( pre contact). The Adams, Chilco and Quesnel spawning areas are probably the best examples we have on the Fraser of scenes that look like the area in the video.

Funny you mentioned the Quesnel system Brian, as I thought a few of those shots reminded me of the Horsefly system back in 70's.

Great video!
