Could you post pictures?  I am useless when it comes to knowing rod histories etc...but they would help those who actually know something!

Do you know for sure that this is a #8/9 rod? That's all you'd need to know. The Iron Feather was Fenwick's premium rod back in the mid-80s before the brand was shifted down to low to mid price range. It would be a very useful rod for salmon and steelhead.

ok. Does it say Made in the USA or Taiwan? I just read the name was re-introduced on Taiwan made product and wasn't equal to the US made rods from around 1985 or so. If it came with a tube - is it aluminum and does it say Fenwick on it? That may indicate the earlier (better) rod Either way it should be a useful rod.

case is very light with brass I think ends

Ok.  Not sure what your interest is then. There's very little value in such a rod. Not much more than $50 I'd say.
