Title: 2015 NHL season
Post by: Fish Assassin on October 07, 2015, 07:07:11 PM
The regular season started tonight with the Leafs facing the Canadiens. Leafs with a new GM, and new coach but the same old Leafs. Jonathon Bernier surrendered a very weak goal on Montreal's first shot on goal. There goes the undefeated season for Chris and A-BOATER :)

Leafs loss can be explained : PRICE.
Leafs were robbed by the goalie.

Have to give credit where credit is due.
Canucks looked very very good.
Confidant & making plays.
It was like they had a plan on the ice & a thinking cap on.
Hopefully they will bring it thru the season & into the play offs.
In the past they start great & like a slow leaking tire fizzy out & get their golf clubs.
Management has gotten rid of rift raft players & replaced them with some spark plugs.
Canucks just may be the real deal. Time will tell.
Goaltending is suspect. Hot to cold, cold to hot. Time will tell again if the Canucks are ok with their puck stoppers.
If they play like tonight FA will have a fun year. ( secret so will I as am pulling for all Canadian teams with the Canucks & T.O. being on my top of the list to cheer for. ) Calgary looked horrible tonight.

Babcock the TO head coach had a rude home coming. Red Wings were flying.
Leafs goalies were TERRIBLE.
Let's see if they can beat Ottawa tonight. Leafs need a goalie.

Blue Jays had a tag at 2nd base but even with replay the umpires ruled safe ????
Would of been a 3rd out. Same inning Jays got behind & lose.
Strike zone was outside the plate "big time" & Jay players were fuming.
Mr Magoo behind the plate.
Leafs Lions play on boob tube plus baseball playoffs.
Sports fan delight.

I agree, the strike zone was over the plate. You would have thought that Stevie Wonder was the umpire.

For all the Ra Ra after 3 games the Leafs have a single pt. to show for it.
Babcock better load up on Rolaids.
Mind you Leafs are on top of the Sabres & Bruins in the standing.

Wonder how Eddie Lack is doing with his new team Hurricanes ?
Truly miss this guy.
Great skilled goalie & always so bubbly personality.
Hurricanes gain & Canucks loss.
For the team & fans.
How did the Lions lose to Winnipeg & Canucks loss to Flames?
Odds were not in favour of those defeats.

Leafs are better than Columbus & Edmonton.
Too bad the NHL was not a 3 team league !
Need a Rob Ford as headcoach & Babcock can lace up the skates & put on the goalie pads.
Now that's real change.
Canucks are flying out of the gate. Like what I see.
But in all honestly Babcock is still getting to know the players & has on his kid gloves.
With more loses he will have every right to show his other side.
Leafs need a stopper plain & simple.
Eddie Lack would of sparked the Leafs.

Must admit the Leafs are a disappointment so far.
Coach & front office brass are not on the ice where the game is played.
Being a fan of all Canadian teams Montreal is playing super.
Canucks were leading by 2 in the 2nd period & lost 3-2 in OT !!!!
Have they a W on home ice as yet ? No.
Canucks need a leader on the ice & DRESSing Rm.
A yap yap player who will yell orders & route his teammates between periods.

Example. "Ok guys we have a two goal lead & the Red Wings played in a Calgary last night thus they are tired. We must get this W. on home ice."
Swedes are just too quiet. Great players but too quiet to have the C.

Thought the Canucks played a good game against Dallas tonight, but sadly they gave up a 2 goal lead in the 3rd.
Lost 4-3 in OT.
Habs were rolling & got a 3-0 lead in Edmonton & Hab fans in Alberta were rejoicing.
Only 1 thing. Ain't over till it's over.
4 straight goals & Oilers get the W.
Personally think the Canucks are playing Ryan Miller too much.
If a goalie gets the W in a game, play him again in the next.
If the Canucks lose, put the backup goalie in the next game.
W go with the same stopper; lose & put the backup guy in the following game.
You just know it will give the goalie that extra push to make saves because he wants to play as many games as possible.
Leafs lose but not by much.

Lost tonight......again. Chris is speechless :)
Honestly the Leafs can not create any offence.
They are like zombies on the ice.
The only solution is to break out of their zone  & skate over the centre line & wind up & slap shot the puck on the net.
They then race in looking for some sort of rebounds.
They should be able to get at least 50 shots on net IF they shoot from centre ice.
Leafs may lose but the stats will look good.
Opposition gets 25 shots & Leafs generate 50 shots.
Looks good on paper even if they get the L.
Leafs then can slowly slap shot the puck nearer the blue line in future games.
Finally with any science at all the Leafs will get some goals going off D's sticks or off the posts on & on...
Leafs lose & Canucks get the W !!!!
Who is that back up goalie ? Never heard of the guy before. He played well he reacts well to shots.
He covers angles well & good position play but he goes to another degree in that he will react to shots & make saves. Ryan Miller plays angles but he stays put like a statue.
Thought the Canucks had another goalie as backup ...that tall Swede.
Canucks are great !
Leafs as of now stink.
They must get some wins & like right now.
They keep going on this route  & the fans will form a good old hanging mob.
Remember the movie "Hang Him High" with Clint Eastwood.
Watched that movie back in the 1960s in a 6th street movie theatre in New Westminster. Near a department store Woodward 's.
Maple Leafs must get better.
They need a spark player & leader.

Easy ? & easy answer.
When Leafs get a power play in any period they pull the goalie & get a 2 man advantage.
Desperate times need disparate solutions.
Time to get out of the box.

Seen Babcock on tonight's sports report.
He looked crushed & his voice trembling.
He said he blamed the loses on himself.
He's taking the blame & heat off his players.
Maybe he should ask to have Torts as his assistant coach.
He went thru what Babcock is going through now & he may have some advice & play a good support role.
Leafs should change their name maybe.
Like swap St Louis names.
Toronto Blues.
They sure are making their fans cry the blues that's for sure.
Come on everybody 1-2-3 " go Leafs go " go Leafs go" "go Leafs go"
Fans gotta lift up their spirits with some cheers.
If they just sit there in silence & paper bags over their heads the players will feel like they have 50 lbs of lead attached to their bodies.
Chris knows the Leafs should try to get Mr positive bubbles smily Eddy Lack.
He will bring great goaltending for the Leafs & his positive nature will take the gloom & doom out from the dressing room & the Leafs will come out flying !!!!!!
Leafs advisor Chris ( the Cup is ours ) should man the phones & demand the brass get Eddy.

A good day in Canada ! Leafs get a big W over the Stars. Leaf backup goalie played great.
4-1.  :) maybe signs of things to come. Sleep well to all Leaf fans.
Canada's team. ( for those over 60 )
Vancouver really is playing super.
They are a team now & not just sitting back & depending on the twins to get the goals.
Everyone is expected to chip in.
4-1 win over the Flyers.
Go Canucks Go !

Chris's system may have taken a while for those Leaf players to fully understand & execute.

FA Wow ya got those creative posts going ! Reminds me of popcorn popping in a pot.
3 posts in rapid session.
Let's not confuse the issue with facts.
The world does not want to hear facts. ( lies are the in thing )
Now with that said : here's my view on what happened last night.
The Leafs played well enough to steal a game in winter peg.
It just came down to the stopper & who would make the key saves.
Put me in the net & Dallas & Montreal would be in last place.
Leafs have a few weak links but over all they are ready to bust out of their losing ways. Chris is worth every penny he 's paid.
But do have good things to say about your team as well.
Canucks had lots of quality chances & both teams made it an exciting game to watch.
Again came down to the stopper.
Pens goalie played over his head & was lucky.
Danial Sedin was given a cheap shot as he was cross checked from in the back & was sent flying. He could of been very injured & out for weeks.
Bet he has a sore back today.
As for my system it's the same as Ferguson the old Montreal #22 from the 1960s ...
Or Gordie Howe elbows....
Canucks & Leafs have to skate check but have a bit of a mean streak thus to create more open ice.
Be physical infront of their net is what I'm talking about.
Too many teams are at liberty & going to the net at will.
We got rid of our hitter infront of the net to the Ducks because of age.
Our D has to take up where he left off.
Too many rebounds & deflections going in because opposition are standing 2-5 ft infront of Canuck & Leaf net.
They should of been knocked on their butt. FA you asked thus that is my system.
Teams are busting out & presently playing great ( Leafs & Canucks ) but must get more physical infront of the net. :)

That's like heading for the checker flag & suddenly a racing car gets 4 flat tires.
Mind you FA forgets that nice lead the Canucks got in the finals for all the marbles & suddenly the advantage was nil.
Came down to game 7 & well we know the rest of the story. Loss & riots.
Canucks get to game 7 in NYC & we know the rest of the story.
Canucks get to the finals against Islanders & we know the rest of the story.
Close is only good in horseshoes.
Canucks like the Leafs have some painful losses.
But both teams are making positive strides :)
Hopefully R Miller will turn it up a notch & make the key saves at the end of games.
A few painful results in last 3 games for the Canucks. Key saves at the end would of made the dif.
Canucks outplayed the Sabres but got the short end of the stick a few days ago.
Again goaltending issue.
Keep your eye's on Chris's surging Leafs.
They are going places. Feel it in my bones.

Truer words never spoken!
Big win against a tough team.
On the other hand....
Canucks lose another close game.
3rd period goal & what is hard to digest the Canucks outshot the other team.
All of the Canuck loses are by 1 goal.
Canucks stopper needs to make the key saves late in games.
Maybe Miller needs to eat & drink something during the 2nd intermission.
Canucks & Toronto to meet on the street of Dodge City.
May the fastest gun win.
Going to be a shoot out.
Bragging rights on the line.
Being a Canuck & Maple Leaf fan makes it hard to decide to cheer for.

As mentioned in past posts am a fan of any Canada NHL team but also am blessed with a good mind to know what a hockey team is. Evolving or just collecting pay checks & play 10 years in the league & retire type of players.
As the Leafs took control in the 3rd period & swamped the Canucks I could not help to rejoice in the fact a rose was blossoming in the sun in the winter time. Wow the new GM coach & Chris's advice has all of us logical know whats to say at this present time the Leafs are rising & sadly the Canucks are sinking.
Guess the Canucks need more yeast ;D

Congrads to Chris & the Leafs as they have the legal bragging rights.

Hey I'm no doom & gloom as being a fan of any Canada NHL team it is a joyful outcome.
Go Leafs Go !
Feel the winning surge in me bones I do.........Congrads to Chris who needs a raise on his recent raise. $$$$$$$$$. TO town is racking in the bucks.
Excitement in that city as they know in their hearts it's the real deal.

Canucks looked liked zombies. ( skating like going thru the motions )
Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo
Better change the stopper or else things will keep going down down down for the Canucks.
FA do you not agree ?
Get Miller out of the net if he loses & put him in if there's a W.
Sticking him in the net after a L just puts spider webs in his brain.
Yak the guy out & he just may wake up.
The old carrot in front of the donkey trick.
Even you must see he just loses his focus.
Too bad games were just 2 periods & not 3.
Canucks would be in 1st place.
Weak link in the chain.
But the Canucks better get real as the team as a whole looks flat.
Why why why are they in always close games.
Come on !!!!
They should win by 2-3 goals every 3 or 4th game.
Proof is in the pudding.
Maybe Chris should be a double agent & secretly give the Canucks brass some needed advice. ( for some extra dough under the table.  )

Too many games back to back for the Leafs.
Do they not have an union ?
They should have a off day between games.

Winter pegs Jets win big over the Van. Canucks.
Lots of big rebounds by R Miller that were simply potted in. Gimmes.
Listen if the fans do not chat Eddie Lack ...they are zombie brains or just do not understand hockey or skills. & desire.
Eddy Lack had the mind desire & skills to play #1 goalie.
Too much locality to Ryan Miller who at best is a back up stopper.
Things must change or else we better call back Torts.

Maple Leafs are in a great battle with the Bruins & all even after 2 periods.
Canucks are rested & battle the Blackhawks who played in Calgary on Friday.
Chicago are all set up to lose big time to the rested Canucks.
Should they get a L in this upcoming game it all adds up that the Canucks are in trouble "big time" as a team. Changes should & will have to be made is my guess. 2 weeks ago TO fans wanted to trade entire team for the Canucks. Total swap. As of now they love their Maple Leafs & no way want the major trade swap.
Willy D Canucks head coach always seems to be shaking his head everytime he's on camera lately.
Go Leafs Go Beat those Bruins.
Come on Canucks get a W over the tired Blackhawks.
Go Canucks Go !

Actually the goaltending for TO has improved by 1000% in last 5 games. James Reimer bible thumper has a new installed radar because his play had been 5 stars lately!
Leafs lost 2-0 but one goal was into an open net.
Reimer held the Leafs in the game nevertheless over all Toronto played very well.
Reimer let's in 1 goal & loses.
R Miller let's in 3 goals but wins.
Hawks were tired as they have played. 3 games in 4 nights.
Canucks were rested.
Both Maple Leafs & Canucks get my "Thumbs Up" because they played hard.
Both teams should get good results in coming games.

Have to agree. Rask is a very good goalie. He was not in the net in game 7 in cup final.
As of the present, not past or future ( right now ) James Reimer is playing like Tuuku Cory & Eddy.
Sadly the same cannot be said about the stoppers for the Canucks.

He had to make the call. 4 skaters on when only 3 allowed.
Overtime was exciting !
Lots of space to really skate hard & get into open ice thus dekes or wind up slap shoots can be taken.
Players today skate so well thus the game is check check & check. No open ice to make plays.
Wish the NHL rinks were European sized. More room to make plays.
Ryan Miller stood on his head in this game.
Without his good performance the Canucks would not have gained a pt.
Maybe my view of his overall play will change if he keeps playing at that calliper !

Vancouver in shoot outs are not very good.
Skater got to skate in & about 15 feet in front of the net let a heavy wrist shot go & aim for top or ice level corners.

Wow lots of memories. Maple Leafs have had so many great players. I can still recall in my mind of players skating or making saves. Ron Ellis liked to skate over the blue line & take a slap shot.
Tiger Lanny & Daryl line. George Armstrong. Paul Henderson. Keon. Eddie Shack.
They do have more Cups than any other team except the Habs have more but when it comes to $ the Leafs are worth over a billion dollar.
Top spot in the NHL.
& that's in USA dollars.  :)

Canucks need some sort of spark as they look as flat as a pancake.
There's Willy again on tv;  the headcoach shaking his head in unbelief.

What are the Canucks thinking?
They get a pt. in LA because of the super super great play of their backup goalie & then they throw in R Miller against Dallas ?????????
When you have a hot stopper who stood on his head keep playing him till he has a bad game. That's the time to put Miller back between the pipes.

Have to agree with Dave. Canucks & Leafs are playing like the "Dolly Sisters"
Hire Tiger Williams as assistant coach either for Canucks or Leafs & his stare alone will energize the players.
Let Canucks study game film of the Blackhawks & then tell them to do the same.
"How to...win"

# 6 is a player the Canucks need.
Changes are in order.
Boston played in Calgary 24 hrs ago & Canucks were  rested.
Yet they lose big time.
Gee normally Canucks explode for 1-2 goals a game.
Tonight zippo.
17 shots in the entire game.
Torts was not the problem.
He must be laughing his head off.
Canucks just have no one that is willing to step up & lead.
Players must wear sunglasses when they Cash their cheques or pull $ from the ATM.
On the other hand the Leafs were flying.
Surprised there were still some fans in their seats with 5 minutes to go.
Canucks reminds me of a house with a  "for sale sign" with words in MLS description " Hurry will not last long"  ( only thing the home been on the market for 2 years !!!!! )
FA what is the answer?
New coach, trades, start yelling at the players,( like hitting a race horse on the butt with a stick )....
Goaltending 3/10
Defense 3/10
Forwards -10/10  :o :-[ :-[ :-[

The problem with going with a youth movement is that fans have to be patient while guys like McMann and Virtanen learn what it takes to play in the NHL ie. speed of the game, physicality and strength of the other players. The BC Lions made wholesale changes in the off season and it took over half the season for the new players to get used to playing with each other

Your right FA.
Hopefully owner,TL,GM,Willy, fans, & players do not lose heart.
Nothing like a good trade to get Eddy Lack back ,will be the 1st step to get things back on track.
He was kinda like a Trevor Linden type. Played with heart skill & fan favourite.
The guy had that smile & his teammates played hard not only to get wins but to play hard for their goalie.
He was like the glue & puzzle piece for the Canucks.
Other options would be to get Rod to take the Canucks surgeon fishing.
Plus play Elvis songs in dressing room before game time & intermission.
Get Eddy x sturgeon fishing x elvis songs & give some time for young guys to develop as FA says = Stanley Cup.
Go Canucks Go ! Go Canucks Go. Maybe beer sales go up when the Canucks are in a slump.

If things do not change the Canucks will be viewing Leaf game film to see how to get wins.   :)

Nice win by the Canucks over the Sabres.
Hamus (sp?) was body slammed against the backboards. How was boarding not called?
& more surprising he got up & still could play.
Miller played super against his old team.
He concentrated & dug deep to play a full game.
60 minutes.
Will the Canucks play hard against the Rangers or get lazy & lose.
Up & down team so far this year.
0-0 in the 2nd period.
Rangers have a great goalie. Takes a very good shot to beat him.

Wow that was a super vid of the 1967 Leafs team.
No goalie masks back then.
Chris "Thanks" for sharing the Leafs Stanley Cup winning team back in 1966/67. :)
Lots of great players on both Canadians & Leafs teams.
No one ever thought the Leafs could win over the Canadians in 1967.

Today with the number of teams in the league it's amazing the Blackhawks could win multiple Cups.
Plus they still are hungry & want to win the Cup again.

Hammers got a facial fracture, so he's going to be out week-week i'm assuming. Canucks we're lucky to get the win last night, only line that did anything besides the Sedins was the 4th line and that sadly is becoming more and more of a game in and game out situation. 2nd and 3rd lines really need to start putting pucks to the net. Don't score to many goals with a minus corsi rating

Read some sports info on Hamhuis & he 's out for 8 weeks.
He's got a good attitude & is staying positive.

Canucks vs Hawks . End of 2nd 1-0 for Black Hawks.
Miller is playing very well & keeping the Canucks in striking distance.
Seems the Canucks are 99% of the time are in close games.
We need to find a player like Bobby Orr Phil Esposito Guy LaFleur Gordie Howe Mario or Wayne.
Scoring machines.

Another 5 star vid !
We should trade the "twins" for this great puck stopper.
Chris ya keep "pulling rabbits out of the hat"
Amazing footage.
Leafs were  Stanley Cup future contenders but then James Reimer got injuried.
With this cornerstone out ,it 's back to the drawing board for TO.

Afraid FA is "spot on" regarding Bernier.
He looks afraid of the puck & unbalanced in his positioning.
He's got to square up more & face where the puck is & crouch . Keep his stick firm & right angle from the ice. On shots he has to smother the rebounds.
Feel like a " Dancing with the Stars " judge.
Reimer gets 10/10
Bernier  gets 5/10
Ryan Miller 6/10.
Eddy Lack 9/10
Sneider or however his name is spelt ex Canuck to Devils. 9/10.

:-[ Anyone watching the Nucks getting rocked? Holy $hlt it's like a shooting gallery out there.
Poor Miller is the only defence for the Canucks right now. 4 penalty killers standing around while the Wild pick up juicy rebound after rebound.
Brutal. Just brutal.
If I was Ryan Miller I wouldn't even come back out after the 2nd intermission.
36 shots after 2 periods.

Always liked looking at the position of goaltenders.
FA I'm too old to play between the pipes. ;D
Gump Worsley played for the Canucks in the 50s, & went on to play for the Rangers Canadians & Minnesota North Stars.
He won Cups with the Habs.
He was teamates with Charlie Hodge & R Vachon.
He quit the Habs because he feared flying in planes.
With the N Stars he played home games thus did not have to fly.
Check out this vid on You Tube:
"Lorne Gump Worsley Minnesota North Stars 4 Boston Bruins 4 February 7, 1971"
John Young 7026 views.
Over 60 shots Worsley stopped. ( & no goalie mask )
Orr Esposito on & on taking slap shots & close in wrist shots! He traveled by train or bus to Boston I assume.

Canucks lose to the Wild.
Media are bringing up subjects about "fire the Canucks coach".
You can just feel the stress Trevor,GM & coach are going thru at the moment.
Canucks just do not get close to the net looking for loose pucks.
Their whole offence is at the point & along boards.
When shots are taken two guys have to go for the net & pot in loose pucks.
Maple Leafs will be getting more pts than the Canucks in near future.
Plain & simple.
Can we just trade the Canucks team for the Black Hawks team ? ( & a billion $ Cash in envelope in USA funds to Chicago organization )  ::) :-[
Canucks are 1 win 3 losses team at moment.

Canucks lose 2-0.
Got  35 plus shots but they ran into a hot goalie.
Our stopper played well also.
One twin got injured.
We have now   $$$$ invested in players who are on sidelines.

That's the problem, you can't blame Williefor injuries.
A lot of people were happy to see Torts go, I'm not sure what they were expecting after the mess he walked into. I'm not sold on Willie yet, but I don't think you can scrap a coach after just one season. He is a rookie NHL coach with lots of experience in other leagues.

Agree with you totally. Personally from what I see Willy seems to be a fair coach & likeable sort of person. Think the player like & respect him.
But sadly if a team under performs "heads roll" & normally the head coach is the fall guy.
As FA points out in his latest post,Canucks get the W & 2 more pts.
How did they manage that? Missed the game. Red Wings are a good team & the Canucks were tired.
Go Canucks go!  ;D

Canucks had lots of jump tonight. Skated hard. The players are putting out to save the coach's job.

Another win tonight. Santa has been good to the Canucks. :)

Oilers & Canucks played a very fast skating clean game.
Came down to goaltending or "hockey god break". ( deflection off skate or ... )
If Markstrom keeping playing at this high level he just may become #1 goalie & Miller #2.
Remember King Richard B. back in 80s.
In playoffs Canucks were being outshot.  Many times by 30 shots after subtraction yet they kept going deeper & getting into the final. Games were close but Islanders won 4 straight & got the Cup.  They had a powerhouse team till later the Oilers in coming years took over.

Canucks loss big time to LA Kings.
Or tonight's quake that really shook the building.
Both are "shocking".  :o
Media states the Canucks should just try to get a high draft pick.
In other words forget about getting into playoffs or any dreams of going far.
Injuries injuries & more injuries.
Plus hardly any goal scoring.
Maybe the Canucks brass can get some blood from Orr Wayne G. Phil Espo Bobby Hull Guy Lafleur,Mario etc & inject it into Vancouver players.
We gotta try something because "frankly" the Canucks look like a dead horse & the Leafs a race horse in comparison. The only thing the Leafs lack is a good stopper.
Looks like the Canucks kinda have lifted a white towel in the air.
Surrender. 5-0 to LA. Ouch.

Was that the same Bernier of old?
Robot from Japan maybe.
When he plays for 60 minutes the Leafs will get a lot of pts.
Have to agree with Chris as it had to be one of the best team efforts.
Pens also played great & so too their goalie.
They deserved to get a pt at least.
Yep the walls are crashing in on the Canucks.
They remind me of 5 chickens that all got their heads cut off.
Moving about in every direction but never to the net.
Maybe somebody should read them the rules of the game.

Another win for Canada's team. What a great start to 2016

Hopefully the Canucks can build on this win.
Coach Willy had better get out his stick if the Canucks play any stinker games. Some players like rotten eggs can bring the whole team down by their lazy playing style. Reason: because they want an early exit & have long vacation.
Take teams like Chicago. They have the idea that winning is like their drug habit.
Players think that they can rest up after their 15-20 year career in hockey is over. Still lots of time to enjoy life.
Miller's injury is a blessing in disguise. Replacement looked comfortable in net & made lots of great saves.
Canucks really have to prove to the fans that they will bust their butts off & get results.
Did not the NHL Vancouver Millionaires win the Stanley Cup 80 years ago?

Leafs winning & Canucks losing seems to be the trend recently.
Jan 6 game has Eddie Lack back. Will he get a shut out or let 1 or 2 max. goals in. That is the question?
We all know the Canucks score about 2 goals or less per game.
Canucks better get in their heads that there is only 3 periods per game so get the offence going before the final whistle.
There is a story in tonight's tv news about a 90 yr old guy still skating on a team in eastern Canada.
He does not drink or smoke & this guy can skate very well. Even skate backwards.
Maybe the Canucks should get him to drop by in a practise  & he can "do his thing" putting on a demo.
The Canucks seeing this old fart ( say in a nice way ) skating about maybe will either get a lot of red faces  :-[ :-[ :-[ or it will light a fire under their butts.
On the other hand the GM just may stick the guy on the twins line.
Hope Canucks get it going soon but for tomorrow's game I will be cheering Eddie Eddie Eddie.
He's my favourite goalie.

Leafs lost because of bad ice (heard that fact / excuse by someone before so thought I's use it also )
Infact have no idea who the Leafs played against. :o
Vancouver played very good but in OT player(s) stayed on the ice too long & the fresh legs got the break & scored on a break away. Vancouver goalie performed super but he made a lousy play on the OT goal.
He moved even before the shot was taken thus the player just aimed for an open spot.
Terrible terrible terrible...
Good game to watch though as both teams were entertaining & gave lots of effort.

Very entertaining game. Dale Tallon is the GM for Florida & the 1st hoped star player for the Canucks in early 70s. Jagr the 44 yr old player was available at the draft in yrs gone by. The Canucks decided to draft Peter Neved. Peter was a good skater, play maker & he went on to play for the Rangers ( other teams ? ) imagine though if the big IF the Canucks picked Jäger.
He's had so many great seasons & still at 44 yrs old is battling out there for Florida. He must make the twins feel young again.
Canucks goalie really stood on his head. Great play.

The Canucks were on tv tonight. Ryan Miller in nets after being out with injury for a few weeks.
4-1 Caps win.
Did not bother to watch because it was obvious they were not going get the W with Miller between the pipes.
Maybe the Canucks would of won if say the Caps have won 10 straight & they kinda approached the game with the attitude "we just got 20 pts in the standings thus maybe we can afford to have an easy night & if we lose who cares" ...in other words they go into the game 1/2 hearted.
Miller should be the #2 guy & not a starter.
He has had his chance & his play over all is very average.
And with the low Canadian loonie & Canucks get paid in USA $ you just know owners are not getting their  $ worth they are paying Miller. ( $7 mil US a yr. I think )
Only other bad deal that comes to mind is the 70 mil $ the Grizzlies paid Big Country Reeves.
The guy was slow, over weight,& could not jump. What was the GM thinking to pay average forward that kind of $ ?
Well anyways Big Country has a good hobby. He likes the fishing sport a lot.
Hopefully FA can give the Canucks a phone call & get Miller to be the #2 goalie. ( if it was me he'd be #3 thus a back up to the back up   :o

Honestly thought the Leafs would take this game as Chicago put out a lot of energy playing the Habs on Thursday.  Think Leafs now have to take on the Bruins tomorrow. 4 straight losses for Toronto.

Chris's advice got the Leafs on the winning side !
3-2 W
Lots of excitement in this game.
Leafs players were singing "Bring it on" in the dressing room after the game.
Watch out all other opposing teams. The Leafs are out of the cage & ready to ROAR !

After reading posts by Noah's Arc & FA I do not what to say: either Amen or Ouch ! FA mentions in his past post something about....
Putting Chris & I into the lineup of the Leafs.
The gamblers will be coming out of the cracks to bet on a Leafs W.
Sure $ bet the house.
It will not happen though.
Chris likes the clean air by the moving waters. ( not stuffy air in rinks )
As for me going between the pipes. Hey ABBA was offered a billion dollars to perform shows for 1 year.
Match the offer & at the drop of the puck I will be between the pipes.
In all seriousness   "great win by the Canucks". Goaltending duo for the Canucks report card of late : A plus.
Mind you after the Leafs get rested up ,it will be up up & away ! Lots of W's for Canada's team.  ;D

Leafs won in SO thus is the bet no good ?
Have to win in regulation ( 60 minutes )
Leafs win & Canucks lose in shoot out.
Torts revenge.
Canucks carried the play.
Close game.
Leafs look like possible Cup contenders if they keep this hot streak going.
Canucks shots are not sniper brand. With the chances they get the puck should be zipped / zapped / zoomed / rocketed / smoked / into the back of the net.
Sadly their shots remind me of a steel ball slowly rolling to be padded in a pin ball machine.
Boo! I want my money back.

There's a time & place & post to talk about the Leafs nevertheless at the moment let's focus & put the Canucks on stage,in the spotlight. Fact is they are at home, rested sleeping in their own beds & performing in front of high paying fans shelling out the "dough" ($)
They lose to lowly teams that they should of steam rolled over.
Canucks cannot score.
They have the attitude of watch us skate, watch us skate to the bench, watch us dump the puck in,but they have not on their brain "watch us score" & get a W !
They are always skating around the boards in the opposition zone.
Why not try to pass to a centre in the high slot & take a shot. Why not get the pass to the D man at the blue line & take a slap shot & the forwards go for the net to deflect or look for rebounds.
Last 4 games & no wins!!!!!
Bring out the brown paper bags  :-[
They need pts now as they are looking for the final play off spot.

Let's see if the Canucks can make it 2 in a row.
Hopefully they keep the winning goalie between the pipes for tonight 's game.
Only one goal against.
Wow Chris sure shook things up in TO.
Think the new blood should create lots of positive energy for both teams after the players settle in & adjust to the if new cities / teams.
Those Florida Panthers are doing quite well.
Dale Talon one of the best early Canuck players is their GM.

Hey I'm 61 yrs old & watched Hockey Night in Canada on tv every Sat night before the Canucks were in the NHL. Went to many Western hockey games & seen the likes of George Gardner in the nets,Ted Taylor, & many others.. Connie Manigan of the Portland team was the big bad bully & looked the part.
Thus in early days cheered for the Toronto a Maple Leafs.
Of course I will cheer on every Canadian team but when it comes down to it will cheer on the team where I live. That means the Vancouver Canucks are my favourite.
But they will get my praise when they play with effort & creativity but when they skate like zombies like any fan we will let them know we are not too happy.
( maybe the travel tires out the team. )
Eastern teams travel 15-45 minutes & are at the opposing teams site.
Canucks travel 2-3-4-5 hrs.
Go Canucks Go !

Remember thinking the a Western Hockey League Canucks should of kept the team they had on their roster & when they went into their 1 st yr. in the NHL.
Yes M Hall could skate down the wing & take that hard slap shot.
Other favourite Andy Bathgate.
John Arbour was a hard nose D man.
Brad Selwood played smart even played with the leafs.
Jim Robson was their play by play & continued in the NHL.
Tony Esposito played with Western HL Canucks before he went on to the NHL Blackhawks.
Johnny Bower Leaf great stopper had a short playing time with the Canucks.
Also we had Doak who went on to play with the Bruins. (70s) not a rough guy or big but he got the puck k moved the puck up ice via short passing.
Another NHL Canuck forward  went on to play with Boston  (70s)
Great slap shot & short fuse.( forward ) name???

Sutter & Edler (sp?) out for 6-8wks. for the Canucks. Important guys to not have on the ice.
Sutter gets broken jaw. 2 major set backs for him this season.
What next?
Chris will give advice for 1st period.
If it does not work ...he'll offer smoked salmon if Leafs score...
If those do not work out have not a clue what he 'll do next?
Maybe get out his whip...
Honestly Canucks will win because they are on a roll & have not peaked as yet.
After 3-4 straight wins they may get fat heads & get lazy again.
Canucks 5 Leafs 3 prediction.
2nd prediction if Chris advice works:
Leafs 5 Canucks 3.

FA yep your spot on Bobby Schmautz. Remember Doug Halward. He came from Boston & came to the Canucks & was a very very good player day in & day out.

If the game started at 7pm pacific the Canucks would of had all cylinders firing.
Change of game start time helped the Leafs win this one  ::)

Something tells me Chris had something to do with this start time.
Excuses aside the Leafs were flying & energy & Canucks looked like they were dis interested.

Guess Chris is having another team meeting following their 7-2 shellacking in Chicago. Start shining those golf clubs.
The Hawks have a system of defence & when on offence they get the puck to the net.
2-3 players get within 3-5 feet of the goalie & bang in loose pucks.
Check out the highlights on a lot of their goals players are crowding the goalie.
Canucks skate fast but they just do not go to the net.
They are just looking for the tic tack toe perfect goal scoring play.
Lose to Chicago is expected but losing to the Wild who coming in lost 8 games.
Rebuild is another excuse. We need players like Steamer who make a dif. in their 1st NHL game.
We were just 4-5 players away from winning the Cup in the 90s.
If we had 4-5 extra character players added to the team, they would of taken game 7 in New York.
The odds are very great that we fans of our Canadian team will go to the grave & not see a Stanley Cup win.
Yet teams like the Red Wings & Chicago get multiple Cups in a league with so many teams.
The amazing part is great players leave Chicago because of $ issues. Free agent players offered big dollars nevertheless the team finds good replacements.
Sorry but very true. Odds are we guys in our 50s 60s 70s will be in our grave & still no Cup win !!! :'(

What is discussed behind closed doors stay behind closed doors. The people will know in due course. The universe is unfolding as it should. The Cup is coming.

Fortunately I'm only a 75% Canuck fan & 25% Canadian hockey fan of the Leafs Habs Sens Jets Oilers Flames...
Chris your post must of hit FA on top of the head like a cast iron fry pan "bang" on the noggin.

I say fire the coach.

Think the Canucks play Sharks again 2 more x in close up coming games.
Lost today so hope they win the next 2.
Leafs loss a good goalie & is it the Ducks who got him. Big plus for them.
Ducks had a bad start to season but are rock & rolling now.
Chicago has Alan Ladd back. ( ex Jets )
Rangers get Bible thumper from Hurricanes to join his brother.
Are the Canucks going to make trades ?
Time is short.
( Le Canucks need some Chinese hockey player. Win or lose the Rogers building will have a sell out each game as Chinese will spend the $ to cheer on their favourite hockey player. )
Time to fire the coach maybe.
Put Tiger Williams as coach.
He will make Torts look like a school boy.
Tiger character will light a fire under their butts.
Like Joel Q does to the Chicago team.

We are waiting for the Canucks & Leafs to blossom like a rose.
Their record lately reminds me of smelly swamp ditch skunk weed plants.
The players are wet behind the ears & play that way.
Gotta have a person in charge to fill their hollow brains " You are a great player "
Get out there & score
Get out there & lay a good body check.
Get out there & get infront of the net & hack away at any rebounds.
Get out there & be better than the other team.
Liked the goaltending  & he showed emotion/ anger when puck got by him.
That's a sign he cares alot. Players will rally around him.
Canucks need a tune up.
A little adjustment.
Get more shots from the point  & forwards gotta go to the net.
If done the % of getting more goals has increased big time.
More goals = more Ws .
Go Canucks Go Leafs  :)

In Nascar a driver may have a tire blow out.
Canucks melt down vs Sharks ...leading 2-0 at home & lose 3-2.
Compared to a Nascar getting 4 flats at once.
If they continue playing like this the attendance will be 9000 then 8500 then 6000 down to 4000 & so on till only Canuck's brass & players & a few rats will attend games.
If game is on tv cams will only shoot the play & audio of game piped in by tv control truck.
Shot taken hit the " oooowww " button.
Goal ..hit the "applause" button.
Canucks fans & players management owners are developing face twitches.
Toronto at least look more human on the ice.
( Canucks zombie looking ) Boo Canucks Boo !

Canucks lose. "Again" what is new?
Soon the honeymoon will be over & owners brass & coaches smiles & friendly greetings will be over.
Owner " Hi how's the family?"
Soon to be: Owner Grrrrrr. "We need wins sooner than later. Too many empty seats & negative reporting"
Even FA is running out of positive ideas on his ( our. ) Canucks.
Plan A) get youth & in 8 yrs Chicago players will be the over the hill gang & Canucks in prime.
Just be patient for 8 years.
7 years losing & 8th year Stanley Cup !!!!

Canucks breaking records... :-\
3 games & the Canucks shut out.
( is that a fact ? )
No wonder as they skate in over the blue line & no one goes to the net hard.
After the play is whistled down they slowly skate near the net but when play is on they stay far from the net.
They have to get a shot on the net & immediately be in position to deflect or bang in rebounds.
Why do they not want to be close to the net?
Too physical.
But there's a way to avoid getting checked. Get to the net when the defense fishes for the puck.
D man is focusing on puck & that's the time to attack the net.
Too soon & D man will focus on player & not puck.
Fine line.
Gotta act like a pack of wolves.

For the true fans of the Canucks it's like taking Buckley's Cough Medicine...tastes terrible but in long run good for you.
For me it's time for people to walk the plank & fall into the sea. ( impatient...like Noah posted we have been waiting many many years.... For us 60 plus 70-80 plus aged we cannot wait. Stanley Cup now or else. Fire the lot of them. )

Yep, as I said a few months ago we would pass you. You certainly need a high draft pick as we are in good shape with our Young Guns I have been helping develop. ;D ;D ;D

You better do well at the draft table this year or you will be looking for another job. ::) ;D

Had a dream that the Canucks won 2 games in a row. Had to be a dream.
Has the Canucks won 3 straight games this season ???
Think not.
Canucks will rebound & be on fire next season.
So will the Leafs & other Canadian based teams.
Kick butt.
In this crazy world with Isis N Korea on & on we need an escape so why not watch a rubber puck being stick handed passed shot into USA nets. Viva Canada bring back the Cup north of the line.
Join the movement.
We need the fans to do their part.
Clap your hands & cheer to spark your team on.
Cheer before you see a reason to.
Secret spice.
Cheer on the Canucks before you see the the green light go on.
Sitting there like zombies will only motivate the visiting team.
FA get off your fanny & go to a game & bang a drum & yell & scream like "crazy George"
Bet $ before the game.
Fans do their part & it's 90% a win.
Good odds to win $$$$!
Recipe to get rich.
Get rich & a side issue the Canucks bring oh Stanley to Vancouver BC.
Everyone happy.
Cheer cheer cheer first & the Canucks in turn will turn it  "on baby"  :)
Please be advised these ideas came from Chris's advice black book page 22.
2016/17 will be the break out year. Page 23 "Top Secret " titled black book.
Count down under way 1,000,000 , 999,999, 999,998 ...

Tough to be a Canuck & Lions fan in recent times.
Lions new QB looks talented & skilled. He impressed me in the games he played.
Lions also have Wally B as head coach I understand.
Football can be frustrating as in play offs & final it's W or else your out.
1st place is so important as two Ws gets you the Grey Cup !!!
How many wins does a team need to get Stanley Cup. 16 wins.
Hamilton improved so much & they get close but nothing to show for it so far.
Go Canucks Go get win #3 in a row.

Miller played great like how a 7 mil should play.
He played angles well & did not flop.
Just maybe this team is developing into a contender.

I smell a "rat".
How is it possible all Canada based teams never made the playoffs ?????
This is 99.99999% impossible !!!
Need to put pretty ladies behind the players home benches. If they get a win they ladies can reward them with smiles & winks ( only..we do not need scandals )
They may act like "smelling salts" & give the players a little motivation.
Maybe Canada based NHLers are eating too much junk food; secretly of course.
Canucks the new order of "composts" had another 4 tire blow out against Calgary. Torts must be feeling better. Canned after 1 season & ....Canucks are even worse presently.
Radiation must have landed in Canada via jet stream maybe.
Fly the whole works of the players from Canadian teams & sit them in a gym with dunce pointed cone hats & on a chalk blackboard write over & over.
" this black puck goes in net. "
"This black puck stay out of our net."
Union too strong.
Base salary on 50% of amount at end of season.
Other 50% paid more & more as team goes into the play-offs.
Get 100% of salary if players get into final.

Chris you are the eternal optimist !
Lots of great match ups in the 1st round.
There is nothing like the playoffs in hockey.
Only problem is Spring is here & hurts to watch the boob tube when the sun is shining.
FA who likes to put down the Maple Leafs had to eat humble pie as the Canucks most nights stunk.
At least the Leafs had energy.
Canucks looked like they arrived & left the rink in wheelchairs.
Sluggish.
They got the a W in their last game & they acted like they won the Stanley Cup.
Not classy at all.
Not a good sign to be so joyful & miss the playoffs.
They should of looked more subdued.
They maybe were so happy because they will be golfing in some warm sunny place.
Here's hoping the Canucks improve by leaps & bounds because in 2018 they had better by then.
Canucks brass are asking fans to be patient in the rebuild.
Only one team can win the Cup each year.
Respect the Blackhawks but they hogged it enough.
Let someone else hoist it this season.

You have a point there.
But it's how they lost what concerns me.
Play good for a game & get a win then play 2-3 stinker games.
Possibly it 's the rebuild & growing pains & with the draft coming hopefully the Canucks will develope into a powerhouse & top contender.
It would be good to see the Caps or even Panthers lift Stanley.
