Did you really think there is a guaranteed way of catching hatchery coho?
If so, you are really gullible! ;) ;D
Short of breaking into the hatchery and netting them, there is no such thing as a guarantee for catching coho - let alone a hatchery fish.
Just walk around, observe what successful anglers do, ask questions respectfully, and keep working on your technique. Eventually, you will be rewarded.

Have you ever tried to net a fully alive, fully rested, and non-hooked fish? I wouldn't call even that a guaranteed way of doing it. Supermarket or buying it from somewhere else is the most sure way, but maybe your credit card will have issues.

Finding them is one thing; catching them is another. :P
The best way to learn how to catch coho is to attend a Chilliwack River cleanup and have an old-timer show you a few spots and tricks after the cleanup. It worked for me for steelhead back in the day. Right Dave? ;)

My tip that I have acquired over the years: fish close in at first light. You will be surprised how close the coho will come to the shore. Make sure to shorten your float depth accordingly otherwise you will be dredging the bottom. I rarely get adult springs anymore by fishing close in. I get coho and the odd spring jack which is what I want. I try to leave them stinky whites alone. ;D

I thought dynamite was 100% effective.
Now if only I could get hatchery coho specific dynamite...

It's all about location, clarkii. I know a channel where your dynamite would take only hatchery coho.
Are you good at jumping fences? :P
Darn, it took this stupid thread only a few hours to get more hits than the one about the river cleanup that has been up for a few days now. Sad. :'(
