I let my brother use my 8'6" spinning rod for Chums on the Stave and although he didn't break it, he struggled fighting fish when he was clearly underpowered.
This rod will be the solution. I don't use any horizontal presentation for Chum cause I hate snaggin', so I will probably never use it.
It is a Batson XST1024F blank in titanium wrapped as a spinning rod.
I'm thinking of a black and white colour scheme, and this is the first wrap attempt.

Possible names are Chumtastic, Chumzilla, or Chumapalooza.

As always, awesome work you do. What about "dog bone"?

Dog bone sounds great, but all I can think of is a weave, which would be blocky and suitable only as a decorative wrap (not on a ferrule).
Do you have a pattern in mind?

I meant dog bone as a name for the rod, not technique.
I'm probably the one of the last guys to give any advise on rod building.

I love the contrast but the last white wrap (just a basic wrap nothing like yours) I did really yellowed after a couple years?
After I cut it off and re-wrapped it I found what had yellowed was the flex-coat the thread was still nice and white.
I have bought some UV flex-coat but have been to shy to wrap white again yet so I havent tried it.

Sr SQ, next time use NCP white thread ... it stays true white when epoxied.

These are NCP threads. If the epoxy yellows I'll just re wrap. ;D

Oops! my mistake ... I use Threadmaster and have no visible yellowing after a few years.

I also use TM so hopefully I won't have problems either.
DanJohn, the technique is called olive branch wrap I think invented by Jim Trelikes.
It's super simple and dramatic.

Ok almost exactly as I figured. But seems like you made your leaves with 4 or 5turns rather than the one in the video? I think I'm gonna rip apart my purple threaded monster and try this. Just beautiful! Thank you for the help

LOL! None of mine look good! But I can see the method, it's just a matter of lining up the mating wraps. Good tool to learn though. Adds so much wow factor
