Title: What eats Shiners... and other small fish
Post by: CurrySonic on December 18, 2014, 08:30:42 AM
Hi everyone... Before I go to sleep I was just wondering if anyone knows what preys on the local pesky bait stealing shiners. I would think small sharks and rockfish. Are they a food sourse for any of other predatory fish?

It be interesting to get to know a little more about the local food pyramid. Thanks!

Include sea run cutties on my very very very secret locations if i get lucky 2-3 times per year i would see sea run cutties smash the crap outta them in less than 7-8 feet of water 4-5 feet away from shore.

I've caught dozens of rock cods, ling cods and bullheads from the local wharves using live shiners when I was a kid.

You forgot seals, otters, cormorants, mergansers, herons, gulls, and kingfishers, not to mention the occasional human (not me but I've seen people keeping them for food at the local wharves/piers)  :P
