Title: Salmon stamps
Post by: Troutman on October 21, 2014, 04:36:18 PM
Hello, Anyone know if you need to buy separate salmon stamps for fresh and salt water? I know we need separate licenses, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer on the stamps. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you want to retain salmon in fresh water you need a salmon stamp for freshwater. If you want to retain salmon in salt water you need to have a separate salt water salmon stamp.

Not needed, but it is a good idea to get one, incase you deep hook one/can't revive it, so the fish doesnt go to waste.

The regulations are your friend. Seek, and ye shall find. Beware the advice of well-intentioned individuals.

From page 7 of the Freshwater Fishing Synopsis. "Your basic licence must be validated with a Conservation Surcharge Stamp to keep a salmon of any legal size or species (other than kokanee) from non-tidal waters. A stamp is not required if you intend to release all salmon caught."

The money goes for conservation and its only 8 bucks so i would say buy every time if you plan to fish fresh and saltwater.

Just bought it today, but it's $15 not $8. Nonetheless I agree better to support the cause.
