Title: Salmon jigging from pier

Can you catch salmon by jigging lures from a pier at this time of year?  If so, what would you jig?

I have these:
- spoon
- buzz bomb
- yarn on jig head
- worm on jig head
- rubber spawn sac

I'm assuming you mean a pier in the Saltwater. Its going to be similar too beach fishing, but the only issue is distance limitations.

Another issue is that you will cause the fish stress as most piers are high above the water level.

I would use a 2 or 2 1/2 Buzz Bomb; but would highly suggest beach fishing instead.

I meant a pier on the tidal Fraser.

I have been wondering why people talk about either spoons/spinners or roe but not jigging lures. I guess it's because they don't go salmon fishing on a pier, and it's hard to do jigging from shore?

you can jig fish from the shore. You just need to reel in the slack as you let the jig fall, slowly working it back to you. Takes practice but can work very well.

you can use jig lures that have the grub tail and feathers casting and retrieving i do it in tidal caught 1 coho and  4 pinks from dock/boardwalk last year.

to bring up salmon I use modified fishing net using a few ropes to bring it down into water the fish slides into the net then i bring it up if its not hatchery lower it back, the netting is quite small to enable the fish to come out I ususally fish with someone else casue it take two

also most docks in tidal area you can go around to the water

a string of beads like a ghetto version of a wedding band? Can't say I have but I have jigged madai jigs from a pierre to varying success
Iona Beach and Spanish/Jericho Beach was always best places I found to do it, Ambleside isn't to bad as well. Ambleside was more beach though.
