CATFISH!!! them is really good eating!!!!!, i went to a fishing derby in the States and they had a catfish contest (biggest fish, most fisf, and weiredest looking one) then they had a huge catfish barbeque. rolled something like 300 fair sized catfish steaks in cornmeal and spices, fried em up, served with potato salad, beer, apple pie and cookie!!! best fish i have ever eaten.
nok that i have hijacked the post, back to you Chumman ;D ;D ;D ;D

well when ever people who walks by a pier that isnt very experianced in fishing. they always tend to think a sculpin is some what of a catfish. so thats why we call them bullheads.
no they arent poisonous but because of their feeding beheavior.. they are loaded with those worms that looks liek a screw in their flesh. along with all the sea parasites... but their relative... the cabezon is very good eating. :D

again, we are talking about the sculpin here? a salt water bottom feeder.
-
Bullhead can be caught in fresh water too. They are everywhere. Wouldn't be much point in keeping them anyway unless you get a big one and most are around 6 inches long.
-
the ones caught in fresh water. are modded sculpins.
-
They taste really good if you know how to make them.. :D
-
I'll avoid eating bullheads especially if they're caught during the hot summer period because I heard they taste very muddy.
-
:-X

Holy cow, I never thought of eating a Sculpin/Bullhead before. Someone should really post a recipe for those bait-stealing b@st@rds. I'd love to cook them up, just to teach them a lesson.
-

Bullheads (the bottom feeders in ocean) have lots of bones in them so i woudln't recomend eating them. I"ve seen them for sale in Chinatown but from what i hear people use the fish to make soup but the fish are put in bags so the bones are kept away from the soup. Personally i have no idea how they make the soup but i hear if you make it welll it taste pretty good.
-
outch! i would hate to be a bullhead at the end of your line... ;)
-
Why ???
-
TandT supermarket , there are several in the lower mainland sells bullheads at $3.00 per pound. To some orientals they are very good eating. Most bullheads are either steamed or fried.Bullheads are sold live in a tank and you pick the ones you want. Some times they even sell sturgen, however these sturgen are black and are very small.I have been told they are farm raised.

My relaitives in Ont. eat the freshwater vertion of our Bullheads, they call Mudcats. Close inspection will show you that they are the same fish horns and all. I tried them once when my relies cooked up a bunch, didn't turn my palet on.

Can anyone post a picture of the bullhead you are talking about. I only found the freshwater Brown Bullhead version online which I caught often at Burnaby Lake. Thanks.
