Title: How much does an inch of pencil lead weigh?
Post by: ALBA CHIEFISH on May 09, 2013, 10:06:45 PM: Please can anybody tell us how much pencil lead weighs?

I dont have kitchen scales and i am wondering how long the lead should be to set a 30gram float.

could somebody give a scientific answer ?

I am struggling to Google it.

Post by: patagonia on May 09, 2013, 10:23:51 PM: Haha, no idea how much it weighs !! but... go with a finger length, and maybe scale back a tad from there. You only want the top of the float above water or u will miss the subtle hits.

X2. However I find 2.5 inches for a 25g float and 3 inches for a 30g float. Speaking of 1/4 lead that is. I don't like the thicker lead I find it gets hung up more often.
