me and the gf tried fishing out that way for the first time, not really knowing where to go we stopped along the river close to no.1 road, saw a guy fishing so we gave it a try, about 10 min into it we get a double header of what appeared to be some sort of white fish? looked like a sucker without the sucker mouth, they were spunky and jumped around alot, we fished for a couple hours , caught some suckers , a couple bullhead,and a bunch of the other mentioned fish, was alot of fun

were you fishing on the bottom or with a float?

i was fishing a float and the gf was fishing on bottom, we both had about the same amount of sucess, all the fish were caught close to shore

Way to go lucky. Is that in the Terra Nova area (#1 and River rd)?
I don't see people fishing in that area before and that's why I never tried fishing there. Were you using worms?

yup those look like the fish we were catching , except they were a little bigger than that one, pretty fat too, put up a nice fight for a small fish, lotsa cartwheels

How much bigger were they? The one shown above is average, they may get slightly bigger than that but that's it. If you are catching them much bigger than that, then it maybe this:

i guess it was northern pike minnow we were catching, saw a guy keeping them, are they any good to eat?

Not too great to eat, as they are fairly bony. If you don't mind the bone, they can be pretty good. Wait until July and August, you can catch them up to 4lb down here. Great fun on light tackle.
