Made a last minute decision to hit Scale Bar this morning after sleeping late watching the Olympics. The Brits had a great show going there. Expect a gong show as this is the first day the size limit is removed. Sure enough there were easily 150 fishermen there in a long line when I got there about noon. Apparently people got there at 4AM and still not getting the best spots. Lots of people were trying hard but very few fish taken. I was one of the lucky ones to get a 15lb white spring. Most of the fish caught were small, some below 10lb. Heard that DFO officers were there early ticketing people fishing past the boundary. Have got to be careful, guys. The ticket plus gas (and possibly a parking ticket) will break your bank. I did lose a rain jacket/wind breaker from my backpack when the zipper came loose on the trail down to the bar. If any one picked it up, please let me know.

Surprised there are so many guys out there when there isn't even a sockeye opening...

Hey Rod, thanks for moving the flossing discussion - any chance that there are other bars open other than Scale right now to fish?

If you are a foot soldier, Scale is probably the only viable choice. Most other bars still have water up to the trees. I was there again yesterday in the afternoon. Windy but not crowded at all for week day. Slow fishing on the bar (not seeing any fish on the bar) but I was lucky again with another 20 lb red in one hour of fishing.

While out for a boat ride a couple nights ago out of Island 22 talked to a couple guys camped out on an island and bar
fishing.
In spite of the dirty water they had an 18 pound chromer spring, green top and chrome spin glo with roe was the ticket.

to the original poster. you are one of those who go to Scale Bar, and still call it zoo. I don't understand!

You don't have to understand me. Respect that people are different and can think differently. Zoo is not necessarily a bad term. It just describes the busy crowded scene at Scale Bar. But like I posted in the Floss Out 2012 thread, bottom bouncers are people who are used to crowded fishing and have accepted that and can still enjoy a bouncing trip with their friends on the bars. I will take any bouncing trip over a day in the office. ;D

I call it a zoo too but keep going there. It can be very productive, can hold a lot of people and a summer isnt the same without the long walk, smell of old sockeye, and crossing a desert full of anticipation. ........
