Title: Rubber Bobber Stop
Post by: Ben! on June 10, 2012, 06:35:03 AM
Hi guys, I'm having a bit of a problem with rubber bobber stops; they keep getting stuck at the first guide and the rare chance it does passes, it'll get stuck at the line roller just before it gets on to the spool... This can't be common right, what am I doing wrong ??? ???

I'm using 6lb mono with eagle claw rubber bobber stops for 4-8lb lines. Really appreciate your comments!

Thanks,

Are they the size of a grain of rice? I use those. Only ones I know. Maybe add more weight to your float?

Thill sells little string bobber stoppers that are extremely good at going through the guides. They are a bit of a nuisance and don't last as long as the rubber ones, but they don't slide and they fly through any guides.

I don't usually have this problem as I don't go down deep enough to have to reel the stopper onto my spool. Hell, most of the time I attempt to keep the stopper out of the guides completely.

Thanks for the input guys!

Jon5hill - I ended up switching to the string bobber stops yesterday; everything's all fine and dandy now  ;D ;D

Another thought... take a piece of Dacron or other such stuff and use it as a bobber stop. It stays on tight and passes through very well. A simple overhand knot that is passed through 5-7 times works well.It will save you money and the hassle of getting to the store.
