Post by: rocky on March 06, 2012, 04:45:41 PM
i have a vintage glass 1222 cp rod, according to kelly of searun, that as far as i know was  built by fred helmer. it is a light action rod
and in decent shape. do people still fish these rods and are they worth anything? thanks.

is it baby poo yellow leaning slightly towards a green tone, they were great rods. will try to find the product number. I'd say not so light but medium with a sensetive tip. forgot his name but I bought mine from the english painter.

no, i have one of those too built by fred helmer for such  and such, sort of a puke yellow with a silex. this is a brown blank with
purple guide wraps wita fujii sliding seat and hardy style butt. kelly said this came in a 1222 and a heavier 1224 ( if i remember correctly)
good for coho, ect, also would be a good mooching rod, bullet proof he said.

dead right rocky, fished with a silex.
Brother ond I both bought one, he loved it, me not so much. I did buy another after that from Freds that was a return, a buety silex rod sensitive tip down to 30" then med to to the joint all power to the butt yet you feel everything  lost that and a nice major to a POS thief.

does anyone remeber what that blank would be, and if by chance any still around.
