What type do you recommend, eg. Alder, & where do you buy them?

I prefer apple. You can buy the chips from any tackle shops, Canadian Tires

I like alder but it does depends on what you are smoking? fish or meat.

I use half Alder half Apple for most of my fish. You can get chips at just about any sporting good store, Home Hardware, Canadian Tire, Army and Navy..... you get the picture.
