Title: Camping - in a different light
Post by: DragonSpeed on August 31, 2009, 09:39:10 AM
We camped up at Buckhorn Camp, in Manning Park, on the trail to Three Brothers Mountain, this weekend.  Generally good weather... some fun photo ops. Here's one:

30 second exposure - F8 ISO 100. 1/2 hour after sunset.

Two people IN the tent, painting the interior with LED headlamps, and one outside the tent painting the ground around the base to give it some "ground to sit on"

Hope you like it. It was fun to make!

Awesome shot!  Are you a pro photographer or is this just a hobby for you?  Either way, you have many great photos.  This one could totally work as a Coleman or Canadian Tire ad.

Thanks Rod,

It definitely fits the definition of a hobby - just keeps SUCKING cash and none comes back ;)  I shoot for fun.  Yeah, that's kind of the image I had in my mind was the "family camping happily in their tent with the dark outdoors around them"  Glad it came across in the image.

Hey DS, great shot! When did you do Three Bros? I am planning on hiking that next week. Good to know what I have to look forward to :)

This past weekend.  Are you going for a day hike or weekend?

Wow - that 360 Panaorma is great.  What software did you use to splice the pictures together or did you capture a video and tweak it?

It's a QTVR stitched together using PTGui (http://www.ptgui.com/) The whole process was done through it.  Very reasonably priced software for the job it does.  A bit of a niche product though.

Thanks for your comment.  The weather was PERFECT that day, having rained the night before and cleared the smoke and haze out of the air.

Really neat software. Just had a read through on the product and it looks amazing!

Ya, I'm planning to go for the weekend 4 days and maybe spending a day at Nicomen Lake

That'll be a good haul.  There's camping at Kicking Horse, the creek is running but it's not exactly a torrent.  We talked with some folks that had camped there.  I hope the weather holds for you, but it doesn't look promising.

I hope so... maybe it'll dump everything on the coast and be sunshine and rainbows everywhere else.

Yeah, because that's allways been MY experience in Manning Park  ::)
