Thanks.

where is the boat launch, is it just where the road hits the river.
I looked on google earth but it is hard to see.
Does the gate lock at night and morning?
Can you launch a good size boat in a 2wd truck.
I use island 22 but it does not open till 6 am.
thanks

Open, But theres only rooms for like 5 trucks/trailers. You could park on the Road, but the road itself is already fairly narrow. Talked too a few guys just coming off the water today at old orchard and they havent touched nothing, also a few guys doing sturgeon.
2w drive should be fine right now, but as the water receeds somemore, it becomes very muddy and Id recommend 4wd

That launch will soon be too shallow for safe prop travel.
Saturday was showing 4' water in spots through the deep channel so a few more weekends max for me.

Never used Old Orchard before. Does it eventually dry up for even the jet boats to use? I take it is not an all summer launch?
Thanks

I would recommend a 4x4 there right now. I launched there thursday and it was pretty slick mud. The bugs were brutal so be ready with the spray before you come off the river. The launch might be unusable soon but once the river really drops it is a good place to launch. I used to launch there with a 2wd no problem on the hard packed sand and there is lots of parking. It is a bit tricky to get into the main channel without hitting a snag or gravel so take your time.

Has anybody used old orchard lately? Was thinking of going there on Monday. How is the journey to the mainstem? Thanks all

Smaller boats on trailers are launching down there but it is shallow for a larger boat. You need to be aware of the tides as there may be enough water at high tide but not enough water at low tide.
