not the best picture, not the biggest fish, but for me there is nothing better than the look on my girlfriends face after she has landed a fish.

-
That's a winner for Nicole right there.
Do they get any nicer than that!
-
Just curious nicole how much do you think that coho weighs? 15-16lbs?
-
My first guess was 15, we had one dead 5 lber in the boat, and that fish was for sure three times as big.
That fish went totally nuts... I was suprised it wasn't lost, really tore up the run!
Cheers,
Nicole

Looks like the mouth of the Nicola.... ;)
-
Nice pics Matt! I really like the second Upper Pitt one. Also that is one funny looking little fish. Probably a coho with a back deformity?
-
whats the reason for hang the brood fish?
-
To get all the blood outta the eggs.
-
whats the reason for hang the brood fish?
Each of the sockeye had been bonked, gill pulled, and hung to bleed out before we took the eggs. At Seymour we usually just lay our fish out on a tarp. However sockeye carry a pathogen of some kind that could be transferred to the eggs and cause serious problems at a hatchery. Each of those females was dunked in disinfectant prior to hanging. They were hung so they wouldn't touch each other. Eggs from each female were also transported separately.

Thanks and I think so! Good to see the little guy made it back. Wild too!

Sockeye suffers from a type of pathogen that attacks their kidney. And this has cause many problems before. Extra care needed when handling them. From catch to egg take.
-
nice pics! especially the sockeye ones.

Nina caught her first coho salmon in her lifetime today, and it just happened to be a teenie. :o

I think they like these spoons, check out how deeply this hungry bugger took it.

What a hawg, Rod! I have yet to land one like this.
Thanks for sharing.
-
nice fish Nina, is that first photo edited?
-
Rod and mykiss any idea on weights? hard to judge from photos. Either way big hos
-
That is one massive coho nina! Congrats!
-
No measurement on the weight, girth, length. The tail of the fish was so thick that I had trouble grabbing it firmly. After a couple of photos it was back to the run. It was very close to the biggest coho salmon I've held (look at the depth of the fish). I estimated to be at least 15lb, Itosh seems to think smaller than that. ;D
-
Man you must be as small as they say that fish looked alot bigger :D Still a hog
-
Rodney weighs about 55lbs so that fish is probably close to a world record.
-

Hey, at least I'm thicker than a stick, unlike some. ;D
-
....The tail of the fish was so thick that I had trouble grabbing it firmly...
Small hands will do that on a lot of fish. ;D ;D (and other things... ;))

14 tops and being generous.. :P :P
