Title: NFR: Does anyone on here do any Autobody repair?
Post by: Big Steel on February 01, 2007, 10:08:23 PM
So a while back, some douche tried to break into my truck by ripping away at the locks in both doors.  >:(  Funny thing though, they are dummy locks and wouldn't have opened the door anyways.  ::)  So now I have a couple fudged locks in my truck that look like crap.  Now if I were to replace the locks, even if they weren't hooked up it would cost me about $300-$350.  I was thinking though, why even get new locks, why not just get some caps welded over the holes, smooth out the weld and paint that section with a blending job.  Was just going to go check out some shops and see what I could find, but I figured I would throw this up here and see if you guys know anyone, or do things like this yourself.  Thanks for any input you could give. :)   I was thinking about doing it myself, but I don't have tools anymore, or a decent little spray booth in which to try this, so......

I do believe Tyson (Todd) from FishBC does body work. Or maybe just mechanical work. But it's worth  giving him a shout.

Do you know about bondo?  It's kind of fun to work with.  Mix some up, spread it in there, sand it off before it sets completely. Prime and paint.

Dave, i ran your dilemma by a buddy of mine who does custom body work and..... you would be looking at roughly the same cash if not a bit more to do the work you are wanting done. I guess if you find someone through the site that can give you a smokin deal.... you might do better

I've been in the Body shop business for 15 years and if you can get it done for $300 - $350, consider yourself lucky.  THAT"S CHEAP.
