So started the day hoping to get into some more cohos. We got into a few spring no chromer and a....

-
meet is too red for a chum
-
chum can be red TRK
-
second vote for chum
-
haha i meant to say chum we got a few close to that today. Not quite that chrome though and much closer to chuck.
-
100% chum, at work today after looking at 15000 lb of them i think i have seen boots to chromers like that ;D
-
and i bet you it is a doe form looking at the belly walls and there was on chrome bucks
-
yeah after further review, I think chum
-
thought chums had spots? but very little....well the chum i had today had some. ???
-
That is far and away the brightest chum I've seen come from the Vedder.
-
Very nice fish.
-
looks like a sockeye ;D where the head and tail ::)
-
I might start something here, but if it was wild and you didn't know what it was, why did you kill it? Maybe it is a wild coho.
-
i call chum on that... bars are faint but still visible
-
Another vote for Chum..
-
chum
-
BWI BWI clarify what it is ;D
-
whoa all this is given me second thoughts ;D Pink, chum, sockeye
-
::)
-
Female chum.
-
It's a chum.
-
Vedder chum that chrome, dont know about that. If it had a head and tail were is it??, meet looks a little to red for a chum. Sockeye i think.
-
Chum... ::)
-
sockeye gets my vote
-
I'll give Bwi Bwi the benefit of the doubt and assume it's a chrome chum (although I've never seen a chum that chrome in the Vedder). Hey Bwi Bwi, are you sure that fish isn't from the Squamish? ;D
-
chum!
-
its supposed to rain for like 2 weeks says my rugby coach! Thats means lots of fish! ;D :D ;) 8)
-
Bottlenose Dolphin you morons! ::)
-
Bottlenose Dolphin you morons! ::)
:) ROTFLMAO ;D
-
totally, man what idiots we all were
-
Im pretty sure that BwiBwi knows what a sockeye is and knows there is no retention of them on the Vedder. Chum it is! :)
-
When I first saw this, I saw Sockeye!! But there is a catch, he said that all he found was boots and chums I believe, so I figured that this fish came out of his FREEZER because of the lack of keeper fish on Sunday. :o Just a thought! ;) ;D

ooooh the plot thickens......that would explain the lack of head and tail...I'll jump on this theory band wagon. Sounds good to me ;)
-
uh guys????
that's a really nice looking fish. could it be a cross between a coho (hence the redder flesh) and a chum (check out the faint vertical green stripes) and a sockeye???? must have been a great party!!!!
a new breed...cohumeye ;)
-
SURE LOOKS LIKE A SOCKEYE TO ME!!!!!!
-
LOL - good call BS. It very well could be a "thawed out sockeye". Notice how BwiBwi didn't exactly specify where he "caught" this fish!
-
Nice he is a sneaky one
-
it's a chum
-
its scales have a purpley tit to them, and there are green bars but its flesh is red. Either its a cross breed of coho and chum, or chum and sockeye!
-
Dont think its a cross breed. Not even sure those 2 species can cross breed anyone know? ??? pinooks are the only cross i know of?
-
From Bio 11 i remember that species cannot cross breed. only sub-species can. But i'm no biology major.
-
Species can cross breed they're just normally infertile. ie Cuttbows, Tigertrout, Splake etc.
-
itts a CHUSOCKCOHO ;D
-
You are right when you say that what we recognize as different species usually do not cross breed in nature (you are also right when you say that closely related species may sometimes, especially when humans help them, produce viable hybrids that are sterile). However it may happen that closely related species sometimes produce viable and fertile hybrids in nature...
Humans like to do categories and would like that everything easily and perfectly fit in these categories... Nature is often less strict. I think that nature likes the category "species" quite well. Species seem to really mean something biologically. However, it is not the case for most of the other taxonomic categories (familly, genus, sub-species...) humans created. What we call sub-species is often either a new discovered species without a formal latin name or group of individuals, within a species, sharing some morphological caracteristics.
Never believe what a teacher tells you ;D ;D ;D

There goes Purple Haze trying to make friends again ::)
how bout we give bwibwi the benefit of the doubt and not judge him unfairly !!
-
There goes Purple Haze trying to make friends again ::)
bwibwi has more brains than you and all your friends put together and he would never kill a sockeye illegally
maybe one day you will learn how to use your brain before you talk !!!
yea purple haze, dont make predictions, BWI is just havin a little fun ;D

Suddenly I feel that I have fallen back into grade seven in the past few days after reading, editing, deleting some of the posts.
Do members really want me to go back and edit the posts one by one or do you feel it is appropriate to behave in such manners at your age?
Remember, whatever you type out on the forum, reflects how people regard you as a person. If I have the nerve to use some of the rude dialogues similar to what have been expressed lately, I would have a hard time talking to people who read these in person with a straight face. Quite embarrassing in my opinion.
When in doubt, pre-read your posts out loud. If you do not think it is something that you would say to someone outside the forum, then most likely it is not appropriate to post it. The discussion forum is not a popularity contest, but it really does not hurt to express yourself with some good manners.
-
??? Missed someone chewing on a shoe again....? Damn. ::) ;)
-
this whole thread is nothing more than a troll. bwibwi by not identifying your catch, its obvious you're trying to stir up s**t.
Rodney, why allow this useless thread to go on and then criticize those who are obviously concerned about the fish's welfare. how about telling your buddy to put a stop to it?
seems to me you're part of the class.
-
I have to agree with the above statement, obviously a troll. The guy is laughing behind his computer about it instead of letting everyone know the true story behind the fish.
PS- And for the record I say freezer sockeye look at that strip of meat showing on the belly dark red with thick layers of fat. If that is a vedder chum I would be very surprised!
-
Not necessarily your comment B, it was more torwards the general dialogue between all and some of the ones that I've deleted.
By the way, I'll end the show here, the fish in the photo is a chum salmon. BwiBwi is just having some fun observing the evolution of a fish species being fast forwarded. It is always amusing to see how quick speculations turn into facts.
-
i know it wasn't directed at me, thanx.
for those who don't know, BwiBwi is a seasoned veteran who knows his fish. i take it he was a little bored at the time of his post.
-
I wonder if the people who were adimate it was a sockeye are going to eat crow ::)
-
Its a sockeye(i think). And if it came from the vedder you should be ashamed of youre self.If you had no idea what it was you should not have killed it >:(
What the hell.Whats wrong with my post? ??????Is that rude????Thick rick give youre head a shake man..And all i said was if it was killed in the vedder you should be ashamed.
And TRK,You just jump on any ole band wagon.Do you have a brain of youre own???
bwibwi why have u not come forward and tell every body what it is and where it was caught. ::) >:(
The problem with your post is that you are going after yet another member of this site for no reason, maybe one day you will actually post something usefull and stop making an my friend of yourself .....

Sigh... With those faded purple bars I thought it would be easily recognizable. But then again, it just goes to show, some people still have problem identifying fish or maybe monitor just need adjustment? ;)
Anyways, that's the chromest chum I've ever caught in Vedder. Nice fish isn't it? The American fishing besides me said that a red meat chum in the States can go as much as $20/lb. :o
